In my family we always had dogs (mainly german shepherd crosses). But I have never thought that I will be doing so many things with pedigree dogs. Everything began during holidays on lakes. I met Ruda - red irish girl - beautiful, friendly, polite, quiet and not barking at other dogs running along the fances what is typical for german shepherds and what I hate all my heart. I was delighted with Ruda's character.
A month later I had my own little irish girl - Bajka (On the Sunny Side of the Street z Arislandu). I admired her character even more. For me she still is a perfect setter. First of all beautiful, with so balanced character and an addition of so wonderful madness as only setters have:-)
Without any plans, slowly, life showed me next steps - first shows, field trials, dogotherapy, puppies (only once). That was the beginning of my kennel - Bajkowe Rudzielce (2000). I kept two Bajka's children: Kruszyna and Pielgrzym. Life with three setters is crazy but it is worth every effort.
I lost Pielgrzym in 2007 because of babeshia. Since autumn 2011 I have new little girl - Kasia of McBirdy;-). I thought I will be much longer with my three girls but soon enexpectedly I lost Kruszyna. And last spring I had to say goodbye my almost 15 yo Bajka.
So now I am again with one little red girl.
Hi Anna, yes it was a lot of luck - but about 15 years ago, when we met an elderly couple, who saw us with our cameras and told us where the last of these Orchids grow. Now we can just got back in spring - the flowers are in the middle of a forest and are now fenced in (by the botanical garden of the local University) to protect those last one's - it makes taking photos more difficult, but at least they are still there!!! Thanks for your comments :-) Cornelia
Thanks Anna - and yes it could have been a deer - could have been also one of your swans - they are quite heavy! We also have a lot of wild boar here, but I am not that good in getting up early - so I've only seen their tracks and their places of 'destrution'. They too come to the meadow in front of our house! There's water further below - maybe that's why. Have a nice day, Cornelia
Thank you Anna for you lovely comment! Jamie had enjoy our Agility training. so it is not the last time we will do this :-)
But first, we go to holiday in Tosacana, Italy on saturday
Have a good time and regards
Esther
Anna thanks. I am planning to do some morning photos. Holidays are coming and then I will tray something. I have noticed that the best photos of Allegro are in the evening light. Of course in the morning I sleep :))
Thanks for your comment on my holiday blog, Anna. I hope you had a wonderful summer as well and do not have too much rain and floods where you live. Did you see your swan family again? We came across some nice youngsters last weekend. Have a nice time, Cornelia
Thank you so much for your nice wishes, Anna! We went away for the weekend and it was lovely!
I'm also glad, that you did see the swans again; the family, we saw also had four younsters. Yesterday, we went photographing birds, dragon flies and frogs :-)). Have a nice week! Cornelia
Hi Anna, Thanks for your comments - I also read the one on Jarno's porcini - here is what could be done with them, if you have too much: Cut them in thin slices, put them in the oven for several hours at 40°celsius (they should be paper dry and have only about 15% of their former weight). I have a dehydration machine at home but no porcini :-) - anyhow, they'll make a nice Risotto in winter :-))). Cornelia
Thank you Anna! I absolutely love my redheads. Life wouldn't be the same without them in mine and my family's lives. And they are spoilt rotten of course. I just came back from a long walk with my daughter and friends, the dogs loved it. And perfect weather here because it's Spring here now. Speak to you later, Krista.
nice to read some good news ! for sure it's great to have a lot of dogs, and they are so wonderful, on shows, on field-trials, simply at home. You are never alone and I hope your dream will become a reality in the future. You know, at the beginning we had only one dog, then 2 .... and then red & whites...it was not planed, but it happened. We have no children but a big house and a big garden and we spent all our time with the dogs !! Happy new year
Anna, Thanks for the Birthday Wishes. Happy New Year to you. Bet your part of the world has snow. How lovely. We have had 140 percent of our aveage rain fall so far and more on the way. Jillian and Charley have been busy entertain their 8 Dog guests while their familes are away for New Years. Today we are down to 6,by tomorrow evening we will be down to Just my Jillian and Charley. Always nice to hear from people I have meet from FB or this site that are serious Irish Setter fanicers. Jillian and Charley send their greetings to you and your setters. Warmly, Jo Ann
I'm glad to hear Kruszyna is getting well. Astor Adagio isn't brother of Robert's Allegro. It is just a coincidence that both have marks of musical tempo in their names :) We wish you a happy New year :)
Thanks, Anna! It's is becoming a pleasure to go window-shopping with Joy these days and she is even better, when I don't tell her to look for Sinuhe, the photographer, previous to taking the photos :-)). Thanks for the great link as well! No, I haven't yet been to Poland and there are many places stil waiting for us :-)), Cornelia
Hi Anna! None of the guests dogs where Red heads. Very very red heads in my area. I always stop people in their tracks. Most of the guests are small like King Charles Cavilers,Cockerpoo, Maltse, Havannese, Toy Poddle to name a few. Jillian and Charley very gentle with them. But I would never trade for any other breed than Irish Setter. That is all I ever grown up with. Our First Irish Setter Mike was my Dad's very first dog and mine too. Dad never had a dog when he was a child. Hope 2011 is a great year for you. Warmly, Jo Ann
I also used to take my first Irish, Oliver, into school. I was a teacher of 4 & 5 yr olds. They got so much enjoyment from his visits and he loved going into school. They also learnt a lot about caring for animals properly. You can read about him on my web site.
I have a pedigree database on my site as well, if you let me know who your girls parents are, I will add them to my database. If you have had any irish who are no longer alive I would be very happy to add them to my In Memory section.
It is a pleasure to hear from you. Yes I enjoy the guests dogs even when they aren't Irish Setters. Tho I would never trade! Well it is midnight time to hit the hay as I have to drive Neighbors kids to school in the morning. Hope 2011 is going well for you too. Warmly, Jo Ann
