About Me:
Having admired the breed as a child I bought my first setter in 1978 and was totally hooked.Shane lived until he was 13 by which time I had moved from the town to the country and bought Ben ( Moriabank Mulberry) who enjoyed a very short show career as he hated being groomed. He was joined a year and a half later by Holly (Henthom Enchanting Angel) out of the one and only litter I had from these two I kept two bitches Edenaveys Shannon Belle (Shannon) and Edenaveys Miss Scarlet (Scarlet) both of whom enjoyed their 12th birthday on 15th May 2010. Sadly we had to say goodbye to Shannon on 10th September and Scarlet on 23rd November 2010. We are lucky to have 3 of Shannon's children by Lurgavon Connor, Edenaveys:- March Brown (Harvey), Rogan's Fancy (Rogan), and Holly's Pride (Katie) who had a fabulous year 2009 winning best in show and being placed in groups along the way to gaining her Irish show title in December 2009,she has since added Northern Ireland veteran show champion of the year 2013 and 2014 to her titles and is the first in the breed to become a veteran champion.
In July 2010 we were joined by a little live wire Lurgavon I'm a celebrity at Edenaveys (Abbie), who has started her show career in a promising fashion gaining best puppy in show in May 2011 and her junior title in July 2011.
Our latest additions are Edenaveys the one and only (Barney)and Can this be Magic (Evie) from Katies litter with Lurgavon Ringleader born 17th September 2011.Sadly we lost Evie in November 2014 to a perforated ulcer.
In May 2015 we imported from Sweden Caemgens For Heaven's Sake (Freya) who is settling in well and keeping us all on our toes.

Hi Karen, I got Betti the other side of plumbridge last year, she is now 15 months, and so affectionate!!! she is a spolit maddam! I live in keady town at the minte but cant wait to move to the country, Betti loves the freedom to run about. At the minute she is closed in the garden.
  • Noeleen Corrigan

would you believe i am so glad to hear that your bitch does that!! Betti is exactly the same, there is no way she will come back until she is ready, she knows what i want her to do but its on her terms!! she is my first setter, and i dont think i will ever go for another type of dog they are unreal!! my mum has a yorkie and a golden retriever - 2 great dogs but nothing like the setter.
  • Denise Brend - (Devacott)

Thanks Karen, yes we do love Irish Setters. Tilly is such a joy, so loving and affectionate with loads of character. I do show her from time to time but nothing too serious at the moment.

Hi Karen, I know you show your setters, but do you know anyone in the area who trials them, I have been doing some reading up on how to train setters for field trials. She is from working background and she seems to have the instinct when she is out in the field, I think it would do her good. But I just need to know where to start.

Thanks Karen, sorry im only getting back to you now, we were in Italy at a wedding and just got back on sunday, poor betti was in the kennels while we were away, she is feeling very sorry for herself at the minute as she is in season so she has taken up residence on the sofa.

  • Sheila Hughes

Thanks for your comments on my Holly! You certainly have alot of her lines in yours. My present boy those lines too. He is out of Country Belle of Wendover, Wendover Lorna's daughter. I had a very soft spot for Lorna and always wanted something from her line! Cassidy and Raffles are also in his pedigree along with many others!! So between us the Wendover flag is kept well and truly flying!!!! Your bitch must be very close to being made up at this stage.

Hi Karen!! How are you? Are you back to good health now? Hope you got out in the beautiful sunshine over the weekend;o))
  • David McIlveen Wright

    Karen,

Yes, that was me! Don't worry, I know you had a very busy time there with all the organisation, so I was not feeling slighted at all. Chantal and I really enjoyed the show! Everyone was so friendly and it was great to see so many there and the great dogs being shown. We would love to attend more shows like this where we can bring our dog, Darwin, along with us - it was a great atmosphere!
I've posted a few pics on the 'Irish' Irish setters group. I didn't get any good photos inside the hall, because I'd turned my flash off, and I was so busy chatting to everyone anyway! Thanks very much for a great day out!
  • Marie Quinn

    Hi Karen,
Thank you so much, yes we could have had a party. Really enjoyed the day yesterday, we love going up to Shows as everyone is so warm.
Jukka played a blinder today, we are so proud of him and of course Fran.
    Marie
  • David McIlveen Wright

Ach, Darwin is a bit timid anyway ... he just had a sniff with the other dogs, and a scratch from some of the people, then he wanted back into the car again! He just doesn't want to be left at home!
  • David McIlveen Wright

I'm sure I could have taken better photos in the hall anyway, but I was so busy chatting, I didn't pay enough attention to what I was doing!
  • Marie Quinn

Hi Karen, Fran say's your more than welcome, and thank you for he good wishes for Jukka, we are all thrilled with him.
    Marie
