About Me:
We are both keen hunters, Field Trial judges with international experience and breed Irish Setters with strong scandinavian influence. Recently we 'adopted' an IRWS lady with fantastic hunting skill and entered the circle of IRWS breeders as well.
In 2009 I also became FCI show judge for pointers and setters. Thanks for all support on that long way !

    Christinane,
I love the photos and the websites you share with us. I like to copy the website address and send it to my friends who train German Shorthair dogs for hunting.

    Hi Christiane,

Sounds like you've been having a great time, hunting different birds in different parts of Europe - what could be better?

We've been having a good time down here in Australia on the quail, last year was a dry year, which means there is less cover and fewer birds, but we still managed around 600 finds. This year the summer rains have been much better and I'm expecting to have a much better season this year.

Do I recall from our chats on another site that you got or you saw a Kilsheelan pup from New Zealand? If so, what is the breeding of the pup/dog and what are you're thoughts as to it's perfromance?

    Cheers,
    Rob
  • Petra Kasznár

    Dear Christiane,
Thank you very much for your congrats! I wish he could be able to work still for a lot of years!
How are you and your reds? What did Elfriede do on the EC of Irishes in France?
  • Kristina

    Hello.

I looked at your web site and I am very impressed by your dogs.

  • Dee Rance

Hi Christiane, yes I will be very interested, I don't know the owner personally but I was 'in' from the very beginning of this young mans life, had very many 'looks' as to which one should be sent to Germany it was such a good litter I actually had two others from this litter to stay and I campaigned them for the first couple of months so I feel like a ''grandma'' to them all, thank you for letting me know, I actually thought that he had done his first test, that is what you get when you get everything second or third hand, thank you again Dee and the girls
  • Dee Rance

Hi there Christiane, sorry it took so long to get back to you about the trials I thank you for the results although I couldn't read a word, everyone English is better than my language skill (actually they are non existent) I can say hallow and goodbye in a few languages but that's it Thanks again Dee and the girls, Please keep in touch Dee
  • Petra Kasznár

    Hi Christiane,
I'm very glad to hear about you again. Hunting? What game can you hunt in this period with irishes? Stockholm! Wow! Sounds very exciting! Have a good time and I hope you will share your experiences with me. I'm still sad because I don't really understand the news on your homepage, this way I can not be uptodate in changes. Puppy plans developing? What do you mean? Is there any of your girls in season?
Thanks, I will pass your regards to Andy, I'm sure he will reply with tail waving!
    Waiting for news.
    Bye, Petra
  • Petra Kasznár

Wow, congratulations! You alone on a hochsitz in the woods at night???? You are so courageous!!!! Was it a male or female? How many kgs or cms waffenla:ge (if male)? Did it go so far with the wound? Did you sometimes use setters for track or only dachshund?
When will Andreas and Momo travel to Poland, how many days they are planning to stay? Did you make laboratory exams to know which is Momo's best day or just trust in nature?
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a successful mating and healthy, beautiful pups!
    Bye, Petra
  • Petra Kasznár

61 kgs are fast enough for a big family event dinner and the meat is still tender and soft :-)!
And yes, a track expert dachshund is the best solution for searching for wounded wildboar. They are small and fast and intelligent, know the safe distance between wounded animal and them, don't risk their life needlessly (not as most terriers!)
Did you make lab. exams for Momo last year, too, that you are afraid of unsuccess? Is she a difficult girl?
    Bye, Petra
P.s.: In German you use "waidmannsheil" before and after hunting, too? I mean for wishing good luck and also for congratulate?
  • Petra Kasznár

Thanks for the short German lesson!
Why don't they stay in Warsaw for the whole period of three weeks? :-) I'm just joking but surely it would be the safest way, isn't it?
  • Thomas&Merete-Kennel Alvertoppen

    Hello Christiane.

I noticed that you had left a comment on Terry O'Learys page about D. Goshawk and that he got a A-hip. The reason that I am commenting this is because our dog is Goshawks daughter and she also have a A-hip :)
Is there a specific reason that you commented on this, is there alot of problems with HD in the IRWS breed?

    Best regards
    Merete

Hi. We would love to go to Dublin this weekend, but unfortunatly we are cought up with other arrangements at work and with the hunting season starting today.. Thomas and Skadi will fly to northern Norway this friday, to go hunting for 10 days. I am going to work for 10 days at a research vessel in the Barent sea, so I am quite stuck there :) Enjoy!
  • Petra Kasznár

    Dear Christiane,
It was very instructive to read your judge report from Ireland.
Thank you very much for sharing it and I'm sure it was an unforgettable experience.
    Bye, Petra
  • Petra Kasznár

    Hi Christiane,
Thanks for the babelfish idea, I never used this program, but I will have a look at it on the net.
What about the puppy names? Did you find out them already? How are they?
    Bye, Petra
  • Petra Kasznár

    Hi Christiane,
I've already payed reverence on Momo and you by your homepage ga:stebuch, just wanted to ask why not the World Cup with such a quality bitch like Momo? Have you seen my Hortobágy blog? I would like you to watch the pictures and say, "hey, this is a lovely country, next year we will partecipate, too":)!
  • Thomas&Merete-Kennel Alvertoppen

    Hi Christiane.
Thank you so much for telling us about Grainne, she is actually our dogs "aunt" :) It is always nice to hear about good results for IRWS. What type of FT was it, Lowland, Forest, Highland?
By the way, do you remember a FT judge from Norway, called Hilde Kvithyl? I think that you judged with her during your visit to Norway a couple of years ago..?
    Best
    Merete
  • Thomas&Merete-Kennel Alvertoppen

I will, and she asked me to send you her regards too :) I talked with her one week ago at Elin Wittusens house (Kennel uS). She always have some good stories to tell when we are there :) And unlike you, we did actually have a close encounter with the big Moskus ox when we were there :) a scary but impressive sight, standing 150 meters away from 7 big hairy animals! It was one of the "uS" dogs that reported to us, and we thought it was grouse she had found but when we came over a small hill the dog just laid down flat (like a lion) and we looked straight at the herd. Never experienced anything like that before!
  • Susan Stone

    Danke, Christiane!

    Hello Christiane
Wish you and your family Merry Christmass and a happy and successful 2009!

Rida is Redwing Outa Florida (from Kentucky and Florida, USA). You can find her pedigree at http://www.wroxhamgundogs.fsnet.co.uk/pedigreecollection.htm
The Devlins are a long, long way to the west of Rida and I.
My woodcock ended up in the freezer, and stayed there, as I was waiting for a few more before preparing for the table. Oh well!
  • Gini Brand

    Hallo Christine,
do you remember?;0) Fine, to see you here .... a few days before, I visited your haomepage, have seen, you own now also IRWS!?

    nice regards

  • Renata Berlińska

Oh no! No sending back. Fokka must work off here the gingerbread setter and some more crimes. I don't know if she is flying but surely he could be a chief of thief's gang. Always no noise, no evidence. If there is many things to eat, she doesn't eat all of them. But once she couldn't resist the temptation. Tadeusz had a hard day and I made his favourite small chocolat cakes. Fokka left him ONE.
  • Gudjon Sig Arinbj

Hallo Christiane Lohmann A frend of my game to you 2 years ago his name is Bergthor Antonsson.Hi gome with Randi Shults from Norge. You did use her dog on one of your bitch if i vill remember. How did that litter came out? He said you have the best setters he had sine so far.
  • Renata Berlińska

Thanks for the link, really lucky girl! We have had snowstorm almost all day, now the snow changes into the awful mud. And tomorrow is saturday, it means that we are going with Fokka to find some pheasants in this mud. She has changed a lot last time, isn't so crazy and finally we begin to work as a team. Thanks for the e-mail, I will try to answer soon.
  • Susan Stone

    Thanks, Christiane.
The problem with this kind of trip: it wets the appetite for more... preferably in spring or summer. I think I will have to emigrate to Scotland;-))
  • Gudjon Sig Arinbj

Bergþór is in Norwey. I spoke to him few days he send regards. The last field triel her in Iceland was to weeks ago.

Teaser for the IRWS field training at Hjerkinn 2009. Are you coming? ;)
  • Thor Erik Pape

Hei Christiane. I left a message in your gestbook a few weeks ago? I mated my bitch with a full brother of your IRWS, I kept a bitch out of the litter and she is also working very well. Since Terry are doing good on trials, this must be a good litter. Are you going on trials with Faolain? TE

    Hallo Christiane,

Lg

    Hi Christiane!
I think I logged in, said 'not attending' and then added a comment. Simple really;-))
    Susan
