    Dear Bridget,

I'm so glad you have joined! I also struggled to load photos in the beginning. It took very long and I thought I'm doing something wrong but then suddenly it worked!

Our party is only tomorrow! We are going to Walkhaven in Muldersdrift...doggy heaven! All dogs can run free and there is a big dam for swimming. The last time we were there Fiddich was so tired but refused to get into the car! Then on Monday we are off to the South coast...first time for the Setters at the sea and I'm sure we will have a few great laughts!

    Have a great day!

    Henriette

    Hi Bridget

Great to see you on the site! :-)

Seasons greetings to you, Mark and all the lovely reds.

Karla celebrated her first birthday on the beach in Natal - loved every moment of it.  I will see if I can upload some photos.

    Best regards

    Estelle

    Bridget,

That is awesome! Thanks for sharing!

    Dear Bridget,
I will ask my sister too to look out for the pup. She lives close to Garsfontein and they jog often so perhaps she might notice him. She owns 3 Weimeraners herself.

I've let Estelle know that I've done Fiddich's hips at Rant&Dal hospital. Dr De Cramer is a breeding specialist who is busy with his Doctoral in (I think) C-sections or something. We work with him very often and I was happy with him. He sends it to OP for analysis and his prices were very much the same as OP. It was very easy for me as I could drop him off there on my way to Pretoria and got him on my way back. I think I should do Jamie soon as I see Fiddich is "very interested" in her but she isn't on heat yet. Otherwise I'll have to wait until afterwards. I also forgot to send you their eye tests. I did this in November already. We sampled PRA damples at a Labrador eye-exam day and took both dogs along. Both were clear, but I'll send you a copy tomorrow. I can't believe I forgot about this!

    Have a good evening!

    Hi Bridget

Whoohoo, that is wonderful news!  Please keep me posted.

I haven't contacted Kate yet - tried once and her line was engaged - but I will try again some time this week.

Very nice article on Irish Setters - but you forgot to mention how CUTE they can be.  I just want to eat Karla up sometimes :-)

    Hi Bridget

Thanks, but at this stage I'm not sure if Karla will be taking part in the show tomorrow - it looks like something stung her in the face!

She suddenly developed a huge lump on her nose and she is swollen around both her eyes.  We'll keep a close watch on her tonight and take her to the vet if the reaction becomes worse.

If she looks OK tomorrow I will still take her to the show.  If the swelling hasn't gone down enough, we'll just go to cheer for Fiddich and Jamie.

    Regards

    Estelle

    Hi Bridget,

Yes, we had a great time at the show and will surely give it a nother try. The dogs got along great, wanted to play and run and had a great time out in the field. We really enjoyed it!

    Hi Bridget

    Happy Birthday!

Hope you have a wonderful year.

(Sorry that I'm a bit late)

I have an appointment to have Karla's hips and elbows scanned on Thursday - keeping all our fingers crossed!

    Love

    Estelle

  • Estelle Meiring

    Hi Bridget

Just to let you know that Karla's scanning went well today - Vicky Reid said that she thought both her hip and elbow scans 'looked good' :-)

Now we wait for the official scoring...

Thank you Bridget. I am amazed at the number of photos on the Site. Sea Breeze has taken over the household since my old dog died in March last year. He comes to work for a few hours each week and is learning to be a therapy dog - quite a natural!

  • Dr Duncan Rodseth

Thanks Bridget - that sounds exciting. Yes Gulliver has developed into a fine young hound. He was a really cute puppy and did so well in one on one training but when other dogs joined he lost interest. The whole thing fell apart when he discovered a duck that lives in the yard that was used for training. He has strong birding instincts - the other day I wen to free a bird that had flown into the house. Before I could open the window he had jumped forward and ran out with it in his mouth. I called him back and released the bird which flew off!! albeit leaving a heap of feathers in his mouth.

Thankyou Bridget, It's wonderful to have more friends on ES. I saw that you were friends with Myra, she is a very good friend of mine. Yes looking forward to chatting on ES in the future. :)

  • Phil du Plessis

Hello Bridget, I don't know anything about Rhett. I got him from the SPCA in Jan 2011. His owner was a old lady from Plettenbergbay. She broke a hip and was admitted to hospital. Rhett was taken to the SPCA by her neighbours. He was very traumatized. I think he is about ten years old.

    Kind regards,

    Phil
