Living in Switzerland since 1968. Born 1938 and grew up in England. My wife (died 2005) started me with Setters, as she and her sister had English Setters when I met her in the 1950s. After settling in Switzerland, we always had Irish Setters, and this is the family tradition that my daughter Susan Stone keeps up and has extended. Our last Setter died on Jan 8 2008 aged 11 1/2, so it's very lonely here now, but Susan and I will do something about that.
Thank you for posting the tribute to Boatswain. I enjoyed reading it and plan to print it out.
My friend, Ginger Kinney, said life is too short to be without a setter! I told her I had to wait for a puppy and she said, all Irish are puppies for the rest of their lives! They are fun loving and best friends for sure!
Best wishes,
Judi
So nice to meet the people like you.As I could understand your main wish is to give love and to be loved by an irish setter the gorgeous dog with most noble heart.
Thank you to be with all of us!
Bryan,
Do you have an Irish yet? I was thinking of you when my puppy is getting into trouble and I have to teach her manners! Puppies are lots of work but they are fun too! Best wishes,
Judi
Thank you Bryan for Lord Byron's lines....the lines for those who can love and who want to be loved.
Our beloved irish certainly know that and can teach the Love to people.
Hello Bryan,
Have thoroughly enjoyed reading your article on "Boatswain." Some wonderful words there, and most thought provoking.
Hope you have a new Setter in your life now. My mother is 81, and has one of my 18 month old boys. In fact he has lived with her since he was a baby.
Cheers,
Myra.
Hello Bryan!
And have a super day tomorrow!
I am so hopeless at remembering birthdays (often even my own) so I thought I had better get this message written!
:-)
Hello again Bryan,
Susan and Thomas came past my house 3 days ago and had a cup of coffe + delivered a box of swiss choklade (most of it eaten by now), so I knew you had Brambles with you...enjoy your day! I dont know how good Bramles is at baking cakes, but there are always shops!
Thank god.
Good to hear from you!
I see here you are not the only one celebrating a Birthday today - makes me wonder if this bank holiday is really just for you... I fear you may have to share the honour!
Happy continued birthdaying!
