Inspired by worlds best literature on Irish setters and those alive, I hope to help survival of an original red setter as an intelligent working athlete. A pay back for an adventurous life with redcoats. Nature becoming an open book was thanks to them.
Thanks Henk! Yes they enjoy being outside very much, they always ask me to let them out, but I can't let them out often cause the cold, windy and rainy we have at the moment. Imagie, both girls and one of the boys already has pionted the toys :-))
Thanks for your wishes! But in fact now only a few places in Poland we can describe as 'partridge paradise'. Generally we have problems with small game. But I believe Podolski's owner will find a pass to the paradise.
"Winning and enjoying thats lots of sun - always price over there!"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hallo Mr Henk
Thanks by your comment on my last blog.
Since i'm younger its for me sure all our lifes are like the tides.
So, i'm not naif and I have learn early how to surf.
The work i do with my Setters its by plesure and pay by them in love and attention. This awards for me are only promotion for the breed and theres no price for that.
Best regards
Pedro
At Porto Rio i try breed by the Standarts and health, not for the results.
We not breed for shows, hunting or company.
But we have onwers happy with our Setter's in all of these areas.
Best regards
pedro
Hi Henk, that's is the price we pay for agriculture modernization.Great, monocultural fields are not good environment for small game. Fortunately some paradises are still saved in southern part of Poland. By the way, I'd like to express my admiration for your commitment to preservation setter's original appearence and abilities.
Thanks for your comment Henk, but I must admit the picture of Dairine working was taken by an unknown photographer and sent to me... I do think it captures the atmosphere very well. Don't we all know (and even enjoy!) these days out in the rain...
all the best with your reds in the coming trials
Susan
Henk ,I was interested to hear that the Swedish Dog you used had a line from Rua in his breeding. Was this via Rua Cappriccio or via the background of FT Ch Rua Connemara of Porschet mated to Astraby's Athos (owned by Per and Tina Henriksen (who have returned to Sweden to live).
Hi Henk, must say I just loved reading the article about Florence Nagle! I have the book 'Misson Accomplished' and this interview just adds respect for a very grand lady.
Why not put the article at more prominence as a forum post - more people may read it.
Hi Henk,
Thank you for posting that article from Dog World. It's very interesting and informative and I enjoyed reading it! I hadn't heard of Florence Nagle before.
Best regards,
Nicole
Henk, I agree the knowledge of the past helps understand the present. Goes for most things, not just dogs...
I admit I was impressed by Wim Wellens from NL who was judging in Switzerland last year. He had was allocated a trainee judge and was referring to 'Hartsbourne' and 'Wendover' type - to his surprise the trainee judge had no idea what he was talking about (ok, the trainee judge came from another pointing breed, but still you'd expect some interest..).
best regards
Susan
Hi Henk,
Thank you very much for posting a link to the Standard In Norway in the Open discussion! I found it most interesting as my dogs look very much like some of the photos (which is probably why they are not appreciated here in the UK)! Can I find a translation somewhere as my Norwegian is not up to much! I have now left the open discussion as some of the comments directed at me were abusive! Thanks again!
Thanks Henk. I think the article could be very interesting - but like Catherine I lack the language knowledge. Do you know if there was a translation done for the World Congress'?
best regards
Susan
Thanks Henk for the link.It would appear that it was a highly informative article it is a pity that i could not translate it despite trying to download various translation tools from the web.
I am pleased to say that i have never seen a field trial dog of the type depicted in the drawing of the field trial irish setter. Are there really some like that in Norway?
Why do people never seem to make reference to Swedish and Norwegian Dual Champion Nimbus? He looked a respectable dog from the few photos i have seen.He is a dog that should go down in history!
Hi Henk
Just wanted to ask you, the dog that you mentioned, sired by Bradley, how old is this dog???
All the best Dee and the gang
ps did you eventually get my email
I'm glad birthday partridges arrived to you from Hungary!:) Unfortunately when small parcel agriculture was changed to centralized farming by the communist regime the number of partridges has reduced a lot! Now they are allowed to hunt where the local hunting society has license to breed and launch them and only a certain percentage of the launched birds is allowed to shoot.
Happy Birthday Henk;o) I hope you have a great day with your family and your reds!! And I'm sure there will be a cigar and a glass or two of whiskey later;o))
Hi there Henk, no time isn't on my side, running out fast, but I will hang on to it for as long as possible, these dogs keep you young I think..
All the best Dee and the gang
Ah well Henk I am with you there, now that I have three everyday is so very very different, The boy is such a monster at times, but you can't help loving him though...
All the best and thanks for reminding me that time is still on my side,..;o))
I was told by Catherine Carter that you have quite a lot of information about field trial red setters and I was wondering if you could help me tracing the ancestors of my Agivey one, with Moanroad stardust on the father side.
Here is his pedigree scan0001.pdf
I am going away for 2 weeks and will be back on the 27th.
Any help would be very much appreciated, but I can understand that you must be a very busy man with your four dogs, as I do know the amount of energy these trial ones have.
Many thanks, whatever way
Chantal
Whiskey weather Henk? You must have had may bottles during the wet summer in Holland;o))) We just had one of our coldest summers;o)) Nice for the dogs;o))
