After loosing my beautiful girl Jasmine...(aka Irish Show Champion Caspians Modesty JW) I now only have two Irish again....Kirkavagh Darara At Mayfred (Saffy) and her son Mayfred Mr Magnifico (Findlay) I have now added another wonderful baby to my house, so am back to three...
How long have you owned Irish Setters?
since 1971
About Me:
I am retired and my life revolves around my grandchildren and my dogs. If I am not with one I am with the other. We all like going on country walks, and to the beach, I spend a lot of time traveling to and from shows, both in Scotland/England and Ireland. Saffy and Fin travel to the shows with me, but I only show Fin at the moment, he is doing very nicely for me in his first couple of years in the ring, and is enjoying, (probably too much), his show career. Because he is a very naughty boy at times...But has learned that his 'job' is in the ring. And he loves it..
Just added my new baby girl...Suteresett Mine Mine Mine at Mayfred....she is by Mr Jingles out of Suteresett Black Magic....she is at the moment a typical baby, into everything but she is all Mine.a little treasure. and she has settled into our house as though she has been here forever..
Dear Dee,thank you for checking out the pictures;raccoons are cute but not very welcomed neighbours;Senta is very vigilant and is watching them like a hawk through the window doors all night ;Iris does not care much .
Hi Dee, it was a very nice surprise to meet you again, glad you do not mind to take the ferry and visit us :-) Well wee Mac is a real Irish ... a pretender like his daddy. They look adorable and friendly, but just try to live with them for a while .... :-) :-) So far Mac show visits are extremely soporific and he is falling asleep very quickly :-) :-)
Thank you very much for your comment on Pitanga and pups photo!
I am very pleased with their evolution, they are completely changed and it's only been two days! They are comming to me and my girls with confidence, wave tails and play very well with each other and with us! It's a big change from the puppies that just wanted to hide from us!
Thanks for you comment and interest in my pups, it's very reassuring to find out I wasn't crazy by taking them home! I'll try to take some pictures of the parents, but it won't be easy, as they are mostly around their herds - they belong to my neighbour, so maybe I'll be able to take some pictures when the herds are closer to me!
I have amazing homes for the other two! The girl is going to be a cattle herder for a friend, that I would trust to take care of Pitanga and Romã without hesitating! As for Pitch, the other boy, he's going to live with my brother's in laws, so I'll be in touch with him for the rest of his live, and they are also a great home!
Since they came to me so young, I'm considering to try and cicker train Trigo, and perhaps Pitch, since this breed is very instinctive and hard to train: At the age of 2 and a half, the only thing I could ever teach Lord was "come here" and "go away"(...and this was after Pitanga, lol!)
I just love sunsets and sunrises...when I lived 'in the middle of nowhere' they were beautiful...but seems the built up areas don't seen to have them...
Thank you for your comment about my photo of Khomet. I too believe we will all be together again. The hard part is getting through the remainder of our physical lives without them.
Yes, Dee, I do feel Hammer with me and all my animal children who are now in spirit. I also talk to all my animals, always have done this since I was a child. I will send you a message. I will try to load a video of my wild bird friend, Sam soon too to show how he comforted me following Hammer's death.
Hi Dee, Thank you for your nice comments about Hobson and Sam. Sam is still here with us every day. Recently he has stayed most of the day. His mate has visited a couple of times too. I am hoping very hard I am not forced to sell our home because this would mean that I would be forced to leave Sam. I know Sam will be alright because he can feed and protect himself and he has his mate. However, I would miss Sam so much and I know he would miss me because we have become good friends, even though Sam is a wild bird and I am a human. xxxxx
hi dee ,we are fine thanks hope all is well with you saffy and fin.
been so busy with gettin things ready for christmas and also helpin with nicola and baby eva.
as show season finished now apart from that lkc one (i think thats what it is )
weathers not been too kind for you of late as it ive woke up this morning to an heavy frost looks lovely now with me having decorated all my windows and having snowflake stickers on lol only got my tree and ceiling decorations to do now .it takes so long doing em these days,im not bothering with outside ones this year as we are going with van to sandringham on 29th dec while after new year weather permitting.was due to go last year but the snow put a stop to it.
hope your dads settled in for you and not causing you too many problems.
Dee, you are so right when I picked Murphy from Irene I had no idea how my little bundle would grow into such a handsome loving boy. Thank you for your comment we adore our little biting machine !
I have had the same wish especially as the flowers are shaped like small red bells. Unfortunately it does not flower for 7 years and by that time it fairly large. Guess the we will have to keep visiting it on a christmas walk.
I quite often say that I don't mind the cold. I tell my student "you can always get warm by rugging up" as we go out to practical work outside. I will now have to qualify that as being a Victorian saying. -1 and going down!!! We will think of you and your Irish when we are sitting under the air conditioner, boys laying flat on the tiles under the vent, bemoaning our fate.
What happens to showing over these snow bound months? Our shows have a heat policy which has them being cancelled or starting earlier when it goes above 38 degree celcius.
It's been a long time. Thank you for your comment. Yes, I was scared, because I knew bloat can kill and the time was ticking, but it was after all a New Years Eve. You can read about it here:
Flora will be turning six on the 11th of March. No, she never had bloat before. There were times when she would vomit about 15 min after eating, eat again the same food she just vomited and then she was fine.
She was never a fast eater, more of a picky eater and therefore more of a skinny setter (27,5 kg max). I was so cautious, so when the symptoms appeared, they took me by suprise. Good thing I was home! I can't thank God enough the vet on duty that afternoon was a surgeon! There were no complications during the surgery and after I think she is on a very good road to full recovery. She is stubborn again and that is a good sign, don't you think?
Happy Birthday, Dee!! Whishing you a very nice day with your family and reds (also family :-)) and many nice trips with your motorhome in the upcoming year. C & J xxx
Thankyou for your Comment Dee on 'Baileys dad' . I have been reading your page and how much you love your dogs,Bails is 19 months now but we are still in touch with his 'original mum'(breeder) and have frequent visits.I feel so lucky to have him. Been looking at your pictures too-they are absolutely stunning!.Kind regards Tina
