In my family we always had dogs (mainly german shepherd crosses). But I have never thought that I will be doing so many things with pedigree dogs. Everything began during holidays on lakes. I met Ruda - red irish girl - beautiful, friendly, polite, quiet and not barking at other dogs running along the fances what is typical for german shepherds and what I hate all my heart. I was delighted with Ruda's character.
A month later I had my own little irish girl - Bajka (On the Sunny Side of the Street z Arislandu). I admired her character even more. For me she still is a perfect setter. First of all beautiful, with so balanced character and an addition of so wonderful madness as only setters have:-)
Without any plans, slowly, life showed me next steps - first shows, field trials, dogotherapy, puppies (only once). That was the beginning of my kennel - Bajkowe Rudzielce (2000). I kept two Bajka's children: Kruszyna and Pielgrzym. Life with three setters is crazy but it is worth every effort.
I lost Pielgrzym in 2007 because of babeshia. Since autumn 2011 I have new little girl - Kasia of McBirdy;-). I thought I will be much longer with my three girls but soon enexpectedly I lost Kruszyna. And last spring I had to say goodbye my almost 15 yo Bajka.
So now I am again with one little red girl.
Thanks, Anna! It was not part of our long North-South tour - just to get reday again - but I hope we'lll get back on that one soon - I still have one blog waiting from last year ... all the best, C & J xxx
Thanks, Anna! We hope to travel a bit this year as well, but maybe it's more hiking - now that Joy is four, we have a few years where hiking hours do not matter at all! All the best, C & J xxx
Thanks, Anna! I would not like to travel with any other breed than a Setter or some other hunting dog - they are tail-wagging and friendly towards strangers. All the best, C & J xxx
Dear Anna I hope you are right it's never easy when we have to say good bye but I hope you get some comfort on knowing you gave Bajka a wonderful and loving life.
Thanks Anna, as soon as you get a setter they have your heart, Finlay is keeping well at moment, every day is a extra day, they told me in december he had only 6weeks, but it's been over 6months i pray for a miracle
Thankyou Anna for your very kind comments on my girls. They are getting along great after a shaky start. We lost our gorgeous English girl in October 2010 & her & Tess were babies together & the best friends ever. Couldn't even think of another pup for quite a long time & when we finally thought everyone was ready, I couldn't have been more wrong. Tess was not happy & didn't want or like her new baby sister. Thankfully, with a little time, all has worked out & like the gorgeous girl Tess is, she has taken Grace under her wing & I really feel that she loves her now. Grace is a real sweetheart & adores Tess & will listen to her & will be guided by her. They are now friends.

Thank you Anna, for all your nice comments! But no, no special editing for the blog photos :-) - they are mostly out of the box (camera): All are cropped a bit; some are brightend up slightly and one is denoised (the second to last). Oh and some are sharpened a bit. Have a nice week, C & J xxx
Hi Anna¡, yes, Lalín is a village of Pontevedra, Galicia (Spain). The land of the pig¡, it´s famous for its main course, "cocido" where the pig meat is the principal ingredient, with vegetables, legumes....Its a funny trophy¡¡
Thank you, Anna! I will show some orchids - I have been photographing orchids all Spring and Summer! We even found the Golden Ladyslipper, that's the very rare colour variation where the leaves on top and side are yellow-greenish too, instead of dark red. I'm alread looking foreward to next year in search of other species, I did not yet see. All the best, C & J xxx
We also like to go to botanical gardens - but very often dogs are not allowed :-(. So I got a book with 'flower hikes'; they show nice hikes to rare but still wild species; and tell the best time to go - so Joy has a nice hike first and can have a snooze underneath a tree later, while we take photos. So all "my" flowers are a real nature document :-). In our garden at home, I have bushes from here and at the moment a winter feeding station - the birds like it!!
Thankyou Anna. Appreciate your kind comments very much. Grace has just had her 1st. birthday & is such a sweetheart. This past year has gone so fast. She has transformed from a silly pup into a lovely lady. We are very happy to have her in our lives.
Thank you Anna! Glad you liked my Owl! And thanks for the link as well - it is always helpful to have local information. For Norway, we got a book with bird places and hides all over the country (in English). It was very good to have this not only for the birds but as all the maps were included with the footpaths and the places, where to park the car, we had many wonderful walks with Joy in beautiful places, that we would have missed otherwise.
Thank you Anna, Yes i did have a nice gift from the Boys a new hat which has a pewter setter attached to it. Apparently they said i must wear it to Crufts so that every one will know who i am. Bless em. I will post a picture later.
Hi Anna! I feed Tinymainly chicken, turkey, beef and lamb.Rawandcooked with vegetables(carrots, celery,zucchini,fennel,...)anda littlemilletorbrown rice.Unfortunately she istoo lazyto chew bones;-)Have you triedto give Kasia raw meat? Happy Easter to you and yours andhugs to Kasia. B+T xxx
Kasia loves raw meat. She is mainly on dry food but I give her chunks of raw beef and chicken. Beef tail is a gourmet, there is a bone inside and quite a lot of meat around. She loves it. Sometimes she eats also a marrow bone. I bought 2 kilos of raw fresh herrings recently. It was rather for me to fry and marinate. Quess who ate it!
I read about raw food and didn't find informations about vegetables. So I'm a bit cautious. Now I can try to prepare for her whole meals with fresh meat and vegetables. Let's try:-)
Dear Anna! I'm sure Kasia loved the rawherring:-) Have you also eaten one? Ialsohave reada lotaboutBARF. You all deserved long holiday, as I remember once you have started a trip across your country, how is this plan?
PS Kasia is a very lucky girl, she even doesn't know how much! I have had a very bad experience lately with poor bernese I had found one day during our usual walk. He stayed with us four days. Poor dog has an awful owner who thinks he bought a dog similar to alsatian or caucasian sheepdog. Bernese keeps trying to escape from him. If I had known then what I know now, I wouldn't have given him back. He deserves better home.
