OMG!!! whos' this beauty??? splendid, want to kiss him! (her?)
Hi Silvia, this is our dog Perry, he is a male. This is him in the backyard during his first week with us, he is now nearly 9 months old, Ill post some recent photos soon. He is a lovely dog but very full on with his energy levels. How many IS do you have, any tips ?? thank you for your nice comment. Cheers Rachel
Hi Rachel I enjoy all your photo and Perry is georgeous! We have one 4years old boy, Oberon, he is the light of our eyes and the Sun of our days:) I cant do without him:)) yes, i bet is plenty of energy : the only tips i have is to start very very early training and make them understanding what is a definite "no". Puppys want to please you, so as soon as they catch what you wish i am sure they'll do.. and also make consinstent: if you repeat something 1000 times (as "no food from the table" or "no jump on beds") and than just once you allow the thing then you lose all in one go;)
the only other advise is exercise exercise exercise.. Oberon is out playing a god 6h per days, at least 5-6 days a week. There is a day, on thu, in which tipically he only goes 4 short walks of 1h each and you see the difference , he has soo much energy in the evening.. I say a good and happy setter is a tired setter;)
enjoy him a lot !! this is a wonderful website, plenty of support from very experienced people and plenty of informations:)
all the best silvia and Oberon
ps: sorry for the typos, i have a very bad keyboard..
Hi Silvia and hi to Oberon from Perry. We just got back from a 3km walk around the neighborhood, while my husband and Liam had a sleep in.
Thank you for the tip regarding the exercise, I know Perry loves it so much, especially when we can let him run free at a park or at the beach, though the off lead dog parks here can be a bit of risk as alot of people let their aggressive dogs iin there and I worry with Perry being so super friendly, that he could get attacked.
We have done puppy preschool and had a professional dog trainer around to help with Perry jumping up on people, but I think it is age and with positive love and firmness , he will settle down. The best thing is his gentle nature and sense of adventure. he really loves to cuddles right up close to you, ontop of you , if he could. Dogs sure have a way of becoming the most wonderful thing in your life. Thanks again Rachel.
ps what part of London do you live in, we were there about 4 years ago for 3 weeks, LOVED IT!!! I am a cold climate creature but trapped in sunny QLD.
