Thank you so much! I "found" you while looking up a subject on the forum and noticed that you have a Molly too ;-). Our Molly is 5 months old. Your Molly is beautiful and I hope ours will grow up to look a bit like her! :-)

Molly just finished her season glad that is over. I decided not to have her desexed. Your Molly looks cute so young did you buy her in Mexico?

Thank you for your message Eunice! Yes, we bought Molly in Mexico. It wasn't easy to find a setter in Mexico. We started out wanting another English Setter, and when that wasn't successful, we considered an Irish or Gordon Setter. Gordon Setters are virtually unheard of, but you do come across Irish Setters from time to time. We were not able to see Molly's parents, not even in a photo and she came with her vaccination record, but no pedigree ... we bought her from a vet. That's why we're not really sure what she will look like later on but I really like her character and she seems to be growing up nicely, so we'll see. I would love for our Molly not to be neutered either, especeially after what I read about what it can do to their gorgeous coat. But I'm afraid there are so many stray dogs near where we live and the neighbour has three young, unneutered male Great Pyrenees Mountain dogs, that I think we'd be asking for a lot of trouble if we don't have Molly neutered in a couple of months time. :-(

much the same in Australia with setters although more I would say than where you are. Gordon setters are not that heard of much only with some breeders. What you have read about their coat is true. I have owned two IS before and wondered why they had such wooley coat until I did some reading. Our last one became incontinent also. Spelling wrong... do you work or is there someone home with Molly each day? Our pet resort even take them when in season. I thought that to be strange but they keep them with desexed females. I have never had any stray dogs hanging around but does not say that would not happen where you are living. Males will break down doors to get to the female. Mountain dogs that could be a worry. Your Molly will be Molly whether you have her desexed or not. A true sweetheart. Our last one was a darling looked like a IS setter gone wrong but I can tell you when she died and she was just before 10 years old I cryed for weeks until I found our Molly. Take care

Oh dear, I hadn't even thought about possible incontinence yet ... Someone is home with Molly most of the day. My husband and I do voluntary work, but two employees are here from 9 am to 3 pm during the week, and if we have to go out in the evening, we always leave the dogs inside and make sure we don't stay away too long. I really don't know what to do ... But we have two good vets in the next town and one of them is known for being an absolute expert in needle hole sterilisations as he oversaw a fantastic free of charge neutering program for dogs in the region (which is the only answer to the huge overpopulation amongst dogs and stray dogs ...). Unfortunately the funds that came from the US have since dried up and the program no longer exists. I so understand that you cried for weeks when your previous IS died, whenever something happens to Lucas or Molly, I will be the same, I can't even bear to think about it ... Kind regards and thank you for sharing your experiences with me! Eileen
