About Me:
My name is Brenda and I bought a red setter three years ago from Christine McLarnon who has won best in breed for her Irish Setters at Crufts two years running. My dog is a family pet and his pet name is FLYNN but his official name is Glenavna Storm Lord. He is just wonderful and has the most affectionate nature. I would love to hear about other red setters and I would love to know where in Northern Ireland I can go to either have him groomed properly or to learn how to groom he - he is beautiful and I would like to make the most of his gorgeous coat.

Hi Brenda, lovely name for your setter Iwanted to call my setter Flynn but was out voted it was my maiden name so thought it would be nice, but we called him Finlay, he's just over 2 and the third setter i've had wouldn't have any other breed (",)

Brenda about trimming I would go back to Christine, I am sure she will help you and tell you what to do until you can do it yourself. If you are not showing Flynn, you will be less stress to make any mistake. Would suggest to start with the feet first. If you come to a show I can arrange some trimming masters to tell you what to do  :-)  hope this help

PS - Brenda I am sure there are good trimming salons in Belfast, but you have to know where as I have only heard about mini disasters .... good trimming though but not for an Irish setter .... and the problem being that all the breeders and show people are doing the trimming themselves here, so I guess they do not know where to go and cannot really help you to find one.
