Hi Karen, I have a one year old irish setter Jamie. Exactly the same problem, says hello to everyone new and the regular walkers. I have found something that does work, most of the time. There is a point in play when he looks up to see where I am (don't blink or you might miss it) and thats when I call and squat right down to the ground. Works every time, but only if he's looking! Don't ask me why but it does! Try it and let me know if it works for you.
Hi there, sorry it took so long to comment back Ive only just found yours! I didn't think you replied at all, the thing is I'm not computer savvy and my husband does most of the computer stuff. Oh dear! I now go out with a tin half full of food. I put biscuits and liver and sausage and every time I shake I shout "this way"(but you have to say it really fast) so its almost like one word and I change direction. Do this periodically throughout the walk and I get a better response for recall. Hope this helps.X
