About Me:: HI My name is Rachel and we have a lovely Irish setter named Perry. My son chose him out a huge selection of dogs for his xmas gift. He is very cute but very naughty. I would love to be able to chat to other IS owners and share stories.

Retained testicle

Hi All

I have a question to seek advice on, Perry is now 9 months old and only one of his testicles have dropped, I have contacted the breeder for advice and she has said it may still drop and wait until 12 months, for the growth plates to fully form ( the vet has said it will not, and can locate the other one in his stomach region and has said it is a genetic fault and in the bloodline and he needs to be fully desexed) and if not get him desexed, I am so unsure of what to do and…

I am new to the group, and proud owner of Mr Perry, who is now 9 months old. We live in Brisbane, QLD, Australia. I am enjoying looking at other photos of the wonderful Irish Setters and reading post forum discussions.

Thank you very much for your comment about my baby Annie. Yes, the breeder is a horrible human being. The occurrence of English Setters being forced to live in filthy, unacceptable conditions with a breeder and appearing clean at a dog show is too frequent. The English Setter is a loyal breed, as is every dog. This breeder has no loyalty whatsoever to her dogs and because of this she will never breed an excellent English Setter, let alone a healthy litter of puppies. My heart goes out to the dogs whose fate it is to spend any time with this monster.

I note you live in Brisbane which is not that far from where we live. Your Perry is a beautiful boy.

Because of work and Hobson's health problems and my Arabian Horse, Hallmark always seems to be "in the wars" too, I don't have enough time to visit ES often, but it is a good community to belong to.
