We started with two happy Irish and took them to obedience classes. Got hooked on that so juggled enteries between Breed and Obedience for a while ending up with Best Obedience Irish of the Year as well as Runner Up one year before extending our interests to Bearded Collies (yeah I know both pretty full on breeds) and a German Shepherd (obedience only) then fell in love with the English which we have had now for 34 years but rescued a Beardie bitch a couple of years ago. She's since had a litter from which we kept 1 dog & 1 bitch purely for obedience again. We also have a litter brother of Joanne Day's Windsor - they are grandsons of our Monty (Ch Mountshannon Wild Grouse at Ardross who is a son of Ch Ardross Crystal Rose who was sired by a UK import. Lodema Fire and Ice (Ice) is our lad's name and we hope to have him on both the breed and obedience ring. Like Windsor, he has Attitidue (note the capital A) but has a lovely fun nature and nothing seems to faze him so it will be interesting to see how he progresses as well as Windsor, Frankie, Emmet and Hattie. Grant really only bred this litter for gundogs and is a bit bemused by the fact that only one is in a hunting home and the rest are in show homes on both sides of the Tasman.

The world is definitively small as I used to live in Whangarei, 108 Beach road, Onerahi exactly in 1983 to 1986 ... before you got your Irish Setter I guess. Now I am in Ireland and absolutely besotted with Irish Setters, but love all animals.
