A very good friend has been taking my little Labrador Tara to the beach recently. We did think it was time for her to go, but the beach trips have helped her arthritis and also her ear cancer, so she has been enjoying life again.
Any way on this last beach trip Tara, who has trouble walking most days, took off like a bat out of hell. When I caught up with her, she was sitting down looking very disgruntled. Running along the beach with all the joy of living that is such a characteristic of our setters, was a beautiful black girl, the image of Conaign.
In conversation with her owners, her breeding is lab/flat coated retriever/Irish setter. The black coat came from the lab but the shape and quality of the coat was pure Irish.
Tara found a German shepherd puppy to nanny, so she was happy. Also there were some tennis balls to be chased and killed so all was well.
