Hope you are enjoying this site, lovely pics of Jenni, she really looks as though she is enjoying life! We are also suffering with the heat - makes the photos of all those setters in the snow look VERY inviteing! Estelle Meiring, Henriette van der Zwan and Rowena Wonforon this site all own Jenni's siblings. Will add you on my page as a friend and do join the SA Setter Group. Have a great, and hopefully cooler, day!
Hi Anenelle
Baie welkom op die ning!
Ek sien het n suster van my Karla (Oakdale Rose O' Trallee of Meiomie).
Ek sien uit daarna om fotos van haar te sien.
Groete, Estelle&Karla
I think Jenn = giving birth 2night to her 'pseudo-litter'... she's curled op on my bed, panting in my face and looking very uncomfortable... shame, my poor baby.
I did not recognize Alex Shearman's surname as I knew her by her married surname and was unaware that she had returned to Cape Town. The relationship between Jenni and Alex's two Setters is that their Sire is one of Jenni's Grandsires.
I still have both parents of Alex's Setters, both now pensioners of 8 years and still very fit and of typical Setter character. I can only think the problem with Alex's male and strange women is 'learnt behaviour'.
Thanx for the info Bridget :) yes, I gathered that the dog had possibly learned that during some dramatic emotional times, they're very perceptive to their owners emotions, even as pups.
Gulliver is my 4 th setter - at the moment he and Faolin (apparently Gaelic for red wolf) are the only two in the houselhold. Gulliver is an Oakdales boy -flew up from Cape Town. He is completely urbane about travel after this and has some sophisticated tastes - will get his tongue into a Cupucino if he can and like spicy cakes when no one is watching. He has strong birding instincts and has caught several birds in the garden. He caught a dove that had been trapped in the house and when I got it away from him it flew off leaving a bunch of feathers in his mouth! Setters are delightful dogs - mine have all been sensitive but with minds of their own.
Hehe - yes, Jenni got a mouth full of chicken feather the other day when we weren't looking - poor bird nearly died of a heart-attack! She also found a Cape Francolin (out on a walk on the farmland) and has gone along on outrides to chase the Egyptian geese... having a ball of a time. But all these outings = costing me a lot of grooming time to get all the grass seeds & "klitsgras" out of her coat & from between the toes :P and of coarse we don't lie still... :) She certainly has a mind of her own!! Drives me up the wall some days! :)
