Oh my goodness I am so pleased I don't have to get up at that ungodly hour, unless it's for a show of cause!!!! Will you be bringing them back? after weening and breaking... Just had some news of a friend of my daughters who does eventing, she had a very nasty fall and the horse landed on her, he is a Highland X Thoroughbred big and chunky she has at the last count two broken arms don't know of anything else I can't find out any more.
How are the Chucks etc. I do miss all of mine, I can live vicariously through yours........
Don't work too hard, Dee and the girls
Ah well I say that I have to sit and have breakfast, dinner and tea, so can go on line then!!!!!!!!! well that is my excuse. You suggested it before me 'yes I would like some eggs' shame I don't live closer!!!! I am having to buy eggs these days and they are 'horrible' all runny and pale, yuk.
Good news about the forthcoming foal she should be due April/May time???? nice.......
What sought of work do you do?? I see you have had a book published, that is something I would like to do but can't write, spell or anything else!!! Just look after dogs but not all my other animals any more, miss it so much, had a photo from my old neighbor today of her lambs Oh this old age is dreadful some of us get old all too soon. The body is shot but the mind still want to do all the same things........send me a dozen eggs please!!!!!!!Dee and the girls
I will do just that......9 books well that rely does make me look a dip-stick!!!!! and all the other things....
I wish we were having good weather, its not raining but it is cold. It's supposed to rain on Sunday (when we are at the show) but hey that's pah for the cause. As for the hay I think that is what turned my hair white, always worrying about the hay, you look out of the window and think, oh my goodness it's raining again, that makes it longer to dry!!!! oh I don't envy you and as you say this dry weather is difficult for the grass to grow.
You are supposed to be working now so I will get off this and maybee speak soon.......don't work too hard though I will speak soon Dee and the girls
Ah yes the ubiquitous moaning farmer. There is always something wrong, not enough money, the weather isn't right, the prices aren't any good. I always wanted to be a farmer but hey as you said you wouldn't want to be like that. I don't think that any farmer would want to be an Irish setter owner how can you moan with one of their lovely smiling face looking at you?????
Well done with finishing you article. You must be rely thrilled. Have a relaxing time when you get up. Dee and the girls
Lovely pictures Dee, dont knock the Farmer lol im married to one...they have a hard life and not a lot of laughs..wouldnt change mine for the world i go to shows go to ireland .Judge and do want i want and my long suffering 'Farmer' hubby takes care of the rest of my dogs couldnt do it without him love Carol G
I agree with you, I know when I was 'making Hay' the weather was always wrong, you want mild rain when the grass is growing and when it was laid down you want sun, why is it, that it is always the wrong way around, BUT now I don't have to worry about anything like that, mores the pity, I have said it before I do miss it.
I suppose the only way to think about the 'boring' jobs is, bread and butter jobs...... again I wish I had the ability to do that saught of thing.
I thought about you day before yesterday when I was making my 'Liver-cake' breaking these wishey washy eggs into it...... Its a shame I can't get some of yours!!!!!! don't work too hard, lots of walks!!!!!! Dee and the girls
Can you migrate there for the summer, its sunny here but it is still cold (still got the heating on). But that doesn't stop the grass from growing I miss the 'boys' if the grass needed cutting I would just put them in the garden, no plants. I now look after the grandchildren and I have got much time to myself, in fact must go Ellie is crying... Speak soon DON'T WORK TOO HARD!!!! Dee and the girls
Oh I do envy you, although I don't think that the neighbourhood would be prepared for ME in shorts, I don't have the legs for that or the rest of me, since I was ill I put on a lot of weight, still, many years later, trying to get it off, and not doing too well at it. But I will if it gets worm where cropped trousers, (thank goodness for the 'fake tan' effect moisturizer,) or the blue white legs can be seen for miles. Glad to see that your 'written' work is coming on well, I congratulate you on your good work and perseverance under the beautiful weather circumstances!!!!!! Think of me mowing the 'silage' crop that is my lawn.... Speak soon Dee and the girls
Hi there
So nice to hear from you again, I guessed that you were really busy, I remember what it was like. I miss the smell of new hay, there is just something about it, and so lucky not to have had any rain on it, it will last you all the winter and some, when its good like that it lasts much longer, much more nutritional value. I bet you don't know yourself without the two youngsters. But all work and no play!!!!As for the shorts well I think that I said before I wouldn't go there just too much blubber, and there is that blue white that you always seem to see on the Scottish legs and arms, I did used to have shorts when I was at the Croft where nobody could see. I envy you your animals etc, I had a photo from a friend that had my chickens, it was of one of my girls with about a dozen chicks,,, Speak soon Dee and the girls
I can't forget the day of my kids birthday we are all born on the some day but different months 20th December, June and February, so cant forget the day...... It must be difficult with two on the same birthday. If you forget its both of them, and you will really have p***t them both off. At least I do it one at a time!!!!! But HAPPY BIRTHDAY to them both from me and the girls. The sun is shining here but still a little chilly, I sound like a weather forecaster... so can I come and stay for the summer?????6.30 I was still in bed for another 3/4 of an hour, Dee and the girls
Thanks but I wouldn't inflict me and mine on anyone. Doesn't mean I wouldn't like to though. Might try one day and take a visit to some of the shows in Europe.
Got a photo of one of my hen that I had to give up, she is the very proud mum of a dozen Aracanna chicks, its so nice to see them again. And looking so happy. I loved the summer on the croft, new life everywhere,
How is the work doing? I am sure that you will have it all in hand? You are much more organised than me, I bet.....If it were me it certainly wouldn't be even half finished, I am not the most organised of people. Dee and the girls
I have done home work from time to time so I know how hard that can be, discipline, that as well isn't my best asset. Not sure I have one any more. But wish I have, I used to work on a lite box and saute (under a microscope) little tiny 'grids' for an electron-microscope. it was very hard on your eyes and back and am paying for it now, bad back and eyesight, still it paid the bills. So I admire anyone with the self discipline to do something from home. again I know where you are coming from. have been at a couple of shows this weekend, not good for me but Miller got the ticket and B.O.B I think that some of the judges just loose the plot when it comes to the bitches. perhaps its because I haven't got anything. Sour grapes and all that. Speak soon Dee and the girls
Hi there, I know what you mean about the children, when Kellie used to ride the horses in our livery stable, I would worry if she would ever get home in one piece, one mare was a lady in her box, or if you were working her from the ground or in a school (I would even ride her) but outside she was a nightmare, (excuse the pun) but I was always worried that Kellie would come back in a body bag, and the horse would come home alone. Her youngster was a lady but when she was first backed she didn't like the usual High winds and rain etc, but as you know you have to keep on with them when they come home, just in case they forget, but it is scary for the parents.
As for the showing, yes it is very arbitrary, it isn't your skill that helps you win or the training that you give the dog, it is to someones whim and sometimes that whim just doesn't include you, so you have to be careful about who you go under, I only have about 4-5 shows left this year, most unusual but the cost makes it so you cant just try someone who might do well for you, but just keep your fingers crossed as to fairness.............Doesn't always work.........well what else would I do with my money, I would be quite well off if it wasn't for dog shows. But I would be so board if I didn't go....I have some very good friends, and some not so good acquaintances. This site is good to be able to talk to other like minded people all over the world. Like yourself, to find people who have other interests in common, Dee and the girls
Hi there, Ninja might be one of those who just don't do anything wrong!! but I am sure that your daughter is extremely capable of staying on even if she does 'throw a wobbly' I looked after Chimey for Kellie she came to pick her up, she was mounting up and the mare bucked, she went straight out the front door I was watching from near the house, I ran down the drive,(1/2mile) she had landed on her head, she just got up and brushed herself down and told me not to be so silly, but you still think of them as 'small' and vulnerable although the are probably as tough as old boots.
I hope you can fit in the competitions, if your hart's not in it they seem to pick up on that, I am sure that she(?) will be great, and the extra competitions is that for the Bull dog?? I don't know how the system works on the continent. Good luck for the weekend, I know that you both will do well...Setters make great obedience dogs, I actually won prizes with my first girl.
Its raining here the grass KEEPS growing, it's always the same when you need the grass it wont grow, now I don't want it, I cant stop it growing.
All the best for the weekend and have a great day yourself. Dee and the girls
