Mine just to love water but wouldn't swim at all. One day we went on a boat and left her on the river bank (mean I know). She barked for some time, but eventaly had to swim toward us. ;)

my girls run into the water and would swim around by themselves, even without throwing dummies, sticks, etc. Odin has always beet a water rat, and i think, Danka just learned it from her :-)

Aha! So it's not just my two who are big feardies when it comes to going for a swim properly! I see from your video I shall have to take the lead - literally - when it comes to getting them into deeper water! Annie looks like she is enjoying herself, if a little uncertain!

None of our previous setters have loved the water. I have this goal to have a dog that loves to go into the water because she wants to. Annie either fell of our boat or jumped off the boat about 1 week ago. She calmly swam to the back of the boat and my husband helped her onto the platform on the back of our boat. Thank you all for your comments. My sister-in-law went swimming into the lake water and Annie ran back and forth on the beach. She wanted to go swimming, I hope to encourage our water excursions all summer long. The water is very cold here in Montana and we only go swimming during 3 summer months.
