Exclusively Setters

Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World

I would like to congratulate Ruth Findlay,  proud owner of Maeve (Drumwhaur Little Flame) and Bridget (Thendara Sweetheart)  who have jointly won the Spencer Award for Therapet of the Year 2010.

Testimony to the wonderful temperament of our beautiful breed

Is Therapet the Scottish equivalent of our Pets as Therapy?

My Inca is a visiting PAT dog and if I had a donation for every time someone said “you don’t often see ONE OF THOSE doing it ?” Pets as Therapy would be a lot richer. I get so cross!

So once again Well Done Maeve & Bridget, you are a credit to your owner and your breeders, proving yet again there is nothing quite like an irish (but I am a little biased !)

Best wishes to all therapy dogs wherever you are.

My Irish Setter Ruby is a Delta Society Pets As Therapy dog, have a look at my photos.
Yes, I agree, Setters are very special and so responsive to their environments. We don't have any "Pets as Therapy" dogs up where I live, but as a member of the local obedience club, my setters have often been to the schools and nursing homes for education, demonstrations and visits. My boisterous boys are always so different when there are little ones around. Very special breed... we are so lucky to have them in our lives.

My dog Billy was assessed and passed as a PAT dog, and I too agree - 'If I had a pound every time...'

Great to see so many setters 'bucking the trend' of the mad dog perception, have no idea where they get this from.
