Yes! :-) I was amazed at how quickly Molly learnt about the best spots in the house.

Hello Molly  :-)  yes yes yes, you are very cute  :-)

Thank you Chantal! It's a lovely age. At first I was overwhelmed by how much work I had and I felt bad for not getting a full night's sleep anymore, but you get used to it and her affection and playfulness more than make up for it!

Totally agree with you Eileen ... and now I look at my 15 months old boy and wish I had spend less time cleaning and more time playing with him when he was 15 weeks!!!!

That's very good advice! I've only had Molly three and a half weeks and currently Lucas, my English Setter, still seems a bit jealous or at least gets fed up easily when she insists on pestering him non-stop. So from time to time I give her a time out period in her room (with her bed, her water and lots of toys), but it always makes me feel a bit bad ... Still, I think it's going better each day! How old was your 15 months old when you got him? And was he the second dog also?

Eileen my 15 months old - Mac - came on board when Darwin was already close to his 7th birthday. We had used strategic moves to introduce them to each other, i.e.  one of us was fussing in the kitchen with Darwin and the other put the baby in his bed in the entrance hall and ring the bell and quickly hide away. So Darwin and I came to the entrance and oh surprise, what did we found???  :-)  :-)  of course Darwin thought it was just a visitor, and was quickly fed up with this ball of energy with horrible needles teeth who wouldn't let him one second in peace. So I always side with Darwin and said, come and let plays with this little rascal, etc.  I never separate them even when Darwin really needed some peace, Darwin could jump on the sofa to get his peace, not the little pup :-) so once on the sofa Darwin could get his peace even when together in the same room. Little by little Darwin got used to it, quite quickly enough in fact, within 2 or 3 weeks they were best mates but Darwin needed to escape on the sofa when tired, and I played with the baby during this time. The baby insisted to sleep curled up in the legs of Darwin, Darwin was really not happy with that and even less happy with all the kisses he got from Mac at the beginning  :-)   I guess like us, Darwin couldn't resist this adorable puppy for too long and then gave up and took the best of it  :-)  Do not worry, let them work out their lives together, they do it better without our help  :-)

Eileen, things happened very similar to Chantal with us, except that I did separate Grace & Tess at times because Tess was not coping with puppy Grace continually springing at her.  Tess was 10 years old & Grace was 8 weeks.  We installed a baby gate in our laundry so Grace couldn't come racing in from outside (we have a dog door) & spring on Tess when she was sleeping which was what was happening.  I'd let Tess go into our bedroom for her sleep times & made sure I spent as much time with Tess as I did before Grace came.  I was beside myself at times, thinking I had done the wrong thing.  But it did work itself out & my both girls get along well now.  It has taken time but was certainly worth it.  Like Chantal said, they do work things out themselves.  We just want everything to be 'perfect' from day 1 & it's not always the case but hey, these dogs are Setters.

AND an English & an Irish together, perfect.

Dear Chantal, dear Lynn, I was so happy to read your advice! I do feel that they are getting on a bit better every day ... Molly just wants to play with him all the time, but she still uses her sharp teeth far too often, and although Lucas is being very patient, in my opinion, he does get fed up after a while. They play best when they play tug of war, that works out very well as Molly cannot play-bite while she's pulling on a toy ... ;-) They sleep in separate rooms and I do try to give Lucas some peaceful times as he's used to that. As he's unilaterally deaf, he always gets a shock when Molly barks, thinking that it's another dog ... :-D He doesn't seem to think that that sound can come from Molly. She seems to be a rather feisty, fearless dog and I've resigned myself to thinking that she'll probably be top dog before long. Being on ES is so helpful and interesting for me! I still have to get to know the site better though ... Thanks again! Kind regards
