I find dogs in snow hard to photograph on a dull day. I usually end up with a black dog and no detail;-) But I think things are improving...

They do indeed! They grain is quite high though and it kind of looks brightend up with PS ...? But maybe that's the grain... For such tricky conditions, I find there is only one solution: Manual plus fill flash - you won't see the flash - just sunlight, that has not been there :-)) http://irishsetters.ning.com/profiles/blogs/for-debbie-or-the-long-...

Thanks, Cornelia. I am pracising the different settings. This one was with ISO 320 and centre measurement (Spotmessung?) and of course PS helped... but I should have gone to manual. I don't use flash.

I use the fill flash technique quite a lot these days, even with the camera's small pop-up flash as in the blog - but manual is a must then, or the photo will look flashed and that puts many people off. There is spot and center weighted - both great for this kind of situation. I just marvel at Glen's long hair, each time I see him like this!!

Thanks for your input, Cornelia and Anna. I'm always learning and trying out new settings. But to be quite honest I am a "shoot first, ask questions later" kind of person... ;-))
