This is a picture of the Setter and Pointer field trail, organised in the National Park, Wicklow mountains on grouse.
It was won by a Pointer with an excellent find on grouse and second an English setter. Not a lot of game found on the day.
A beautiful setting - was this a summer trial? People look dressed for a cool day despite the sunshine. Ideal temperature for the dogs though. Were the grouse too clever for he dogs?
Indeed a summer trial, you can see the mist behind us in this picture and it was quite cool in the morning until the sun came out, kick off is at 9:30 am. The grouse are clever but most of all very scares, not a lot left on the mountains and the bad springs and summers over the last 3 years are not really helping the grouse population to grow.
