I sometimes wish for a fenced in dogpark - but then this is the best training Joy and I can get - this female deer is now very often very close to our house (maybe about 20m) - here it is standing at the entrance of our daily walk - I can talk to it and it does lift it's head and listen :-))

Oh...how beautiful...look forward to some more close-ups then Cornelia...if she learns not to run...then hopefully Joy will not feel the need to chase...you never know...stranger things have happened..:-)))

That's unbelievable that you can spot such animals in front of your house:-)

Hi Cornelia

You will be talking "deer"  soon. I have attached a photo of my wild bird friend, Sam who "dropped out of the sky" on 1 October 2008, the day after my Arabian horse, Khomet would have turned 18yo. She has been my constant companion ever since even though Wildcare Australia told me that it is in the DNA of a white-faced heron to avoid the human species!! The day I took this photo I was sitting on the back step crying my heart out because I had received the written evidence of what I had always "known" (at a deeper level) about Khomet's death. The stones in the courtyard are sharp. Despite this, Sam came over and crouched on a paver close to me because she felt my pain. I am certain you can see Sam is trying to comfort me in my grief, and yet she is a wild bird.

Best wishes from Susan and her animal family members and friends
