Hello
I am joining this forum in the hope of being able to help my friend who loves Irish Setters and is about to lose her 13 year old to hip dysplasia. I am trying to find a breeder with health tested Irsh Setters in the Norfolk area

Please can you recommend any breeders with health screened dogs who live near Norfolk, UK?

Hello Everyone

I've joined this blog in the hope of being able to help a friend of mine who is on the brink of lossing her beloved Irish Setter of 13 to hip dysplasia. She has always had Irish Setters and is a brilliant owner, once she losses her girl she will be in desperate need of a puppy, so I've taken it upon myself to try and make enquires, as she isn't in any state to at the moment, to try and find breeders in/near Norfolk who health screen/hip test their dogs and only use dogs…

Hi Lorna I think what you're doing is great , my experience has been that a puppy helps to heal some of the pain of loss when we only had one Irish and lost him it was aweful so we got two the next time when one of those went it was still painful but easier to cope with at having one still with us. I lost my boy Morgan a year ago and my breeder gave me her pick of the litter from another litter within a couple of days, the loss was horrendous but made a little easier with a new puppy. I can't help with a breeder as I live in Aus.but if your friend is like me just seeing some puppies is therapy for the soul. good luck all the best in your search

Thanks Peter. Yes, I was just the same - had just the one and when I lost her it was agonising, and I swore I'd always have two, of staggered ages after that. Not that I think it makes the loss any less, but at least you aren't left with a complete void. I have a georgous 8 year old now who fortunetly came along 3 weeks after I lost my old girl and I honestly felt that she saved me, as you say, she was such a tonic, nothing else could have helped me with my grief as well as she did. I am just about to get a puppy, so am hoping to goodness they get on well!
