Welcome to this site! I wish you all the best with the new puppy. He will turn your lives upside down and you will go through a steep learning curve I am sure. Best to get in touch with a good trainer for some classes to get you started. Have fun!
What a sweet little one you have there. Enjoy learning all about how wonderful Irish Setters are.......and the joy and fun they bring into your life ( will admit to some mischief also), Ask away if I can help in any way....IS owned since 1973 here so I have experienced a lot of their antics. Love and boundaries that are consistent are my best hints....plus being sure they get enough excercise as they get older so they don't do things out of boredom, I think you will find that this little one just wishes to be where you are and I found mine also wished for that no matter what their age was. Enjoy ES and you will find so much information here that will make your new journey easier. Nice to see another USA owner on here!

Welcome, you have chosen the very best - I have had Setters for 29 years
and presently have two with a new baby being picked up next month
- have patience for the first couple of years and work with the dog - make
sure it gets excercise and lots of love - in return you will not ever know
what hit you - they are huge love bugs and do want to please and
you will forever more be loved well - just make sure you love that baby
back.
You know there are a lot of good books out there - some basic training wouldn t hurt
and then be consistent. These dogs are so loving and sensitive - they are also
real clowns - love the picture - look forward to more. I will post when my
puppy arrives - within weeks - looking forward to it.
