Hi Pamela, sorry for the delay in replying. Yes although they have a reputation for being scatty our setters have always been really calm and laid-back and as you say wonderful with children and other dogs. They have not been too keen on cats though and I don't think they would cuddle up to a cat like your well behaved dogs! They look so lovely in your photos!
Strange coincidence - my Dad lives in Almeria, he moved to La Alfoquia 4 years ago. We have not yet been to visit partly because I don't want to put the dogs in kennels and I have had some health problems. But he really likes living out there. Where in Almeria are you? Have you been there long and how have the dogs adjusted to the heat? It is still blooming freezing here, this winter seems to have gone on forever! We are picking up our new setter puppy on Friday so will put some photos on soon. Take care.

Have I found the place to be able to writé more !! Well as I said earlier we now have a Cocker Spaniel, we were hoping he would bring some fun & company for Nina since losing our boy Shannon & mainly her buddy as she has always had Shannon around. Rex our Cocker is a different story, very verbal & always on the go, like a coiled spring it's amazing how high he can jump from a stationary position. Nina is now 9& 1/2 as is reluctant to going for walks at times but with with a bit of gentle encouragement she will go. We had her spayed last yr which in a way I am regretting as it took her quite a while to recover. She is also having a few misshaps with wetting herself. I have to keep getting her up for wee wees. So glad I trained her as a puppy to wee on command when out walking, it has definately paid off. Just as well we don't have close neighbors as they would hear me at all strange times of day & night saying come on Nina wee wees come on wee wees & then she does. Even Rex has learnt to wee & poo on command , has heard me saying it to Nina so many times. Me & hubby took them with us on holiday up to Sierra Nevada last month & they were both so well behaved & Nina had no accidents Maybe it's that when she sleeps she 's so sound she doesn't realise she's wetting herself. Just as well we live in a climate where I can get all the bedding & towels that I use for her washed & dried in no time. Temps are still in the low 30's here in Las Pocicas Albox . I think one day we may just think about another Irish but not just yet. Seeing all the beauties on here melts my heart .
