20 Nov 2009 Field Trial CACIT 'Couple' in Muttersholtz/F

The SPCS (Setter & Pointer Club Suisse) ran 4 days trials from Nov 19th to 22nd. Glen 'Coppersheen Coalville Lad' was entered in 'Couple' (brace) on the first two days. Day one he found and pointed a hen pheasant in the reeds but could not produce and the judge put up the bird instead. Day two he ran with a Gordon and both dogs had excellent points on wild pheasant.
20 dogs ran, 4 were placed and Glen was one of them with grading 'Very Good 4th'. Competition was tough with dogs running fast and wide... but Glen just had the knack of finding birds where others found none;-))
This brings his working year to a fantastic end.

Congratulations Susan ! Another good work with Glen !

I was there on 21/11 with Fetcher. Unfortunatly, he didn't find a pheasant.
As you said, competition was tough with dogs running fast and wide. With our show dogs, we can only have the chance they can find and point a bird to receive a 'very good' qualification.
In these competitions, you can clearly see the difference between show dogs and hunting dogs.
All of us can discuss for a long time, the report is final: we have two different setters and with our show dogs, it's a great achievement to receive a 'very good' qualification in such competition.

So congratulations again Susan, you do it !
PS: I really appreciate the attitude of judges. They appreciated we were on fields with show dogs and they encouraged you to go on.
See you soon.

Thank you all once again for your enthusiastic words!
All who have met Glen personally know that for a 'show bred' setter he is extremely energetic and a very passionate hunter - and still, when you see the working bred Pointers and Gordon Setters you realize the difference...
Jean, I was sorry I could not be there yesterday to meet up with you! I hope you and all the other Irish owners had a great time!

Bonjour Susan,

A Muttersholtz, j'ai rencontré Jean Duhant, j.

mes salutations
Susan
