Glen's fantastic success at trials in the UK

Coppersheen Coalville Lad - International, Swiss & German Champion -

also known to his friends as Glen, has had a fabulous start to trialling in the UK!

It all started in 2009 when Glen and I were able to take part in Peter & Geraldine O'Driscoll's training weeks for pointing breeds in February near Kelso. In 2010 we returned for the KC training weekend in Reeth on the Yorkshire Moors. It was there that Glen first pointed 'The Famous Grouse'.

When planning a holiday in Scotland for the summer I felt it would be a shame to drive all that way and not take Glen to one of the Novice trials... so I entered him for The Pointer Club Novice Trial in Lauder on July 12th and for Dukeries (Notts) Gundog Club Novice stake on July 13th. Being uncertain if we'd be accepted I also entered him for The Yorkshire Gundog Club's trial in Blanchland and finally decided to end out holiday by visiting the ISAE and Setter & Pointer Club Breed Open Stake at Shap on the way back South after our holidays in the North West Highlands of Scotland.

Glen surpassed all expectations, gaining a Certificate of Merit on July 12th 2010 at our first ever trial on grouse, at Lauder, run by The Pointer Club and judged by Mrs J Organ and Mrs K Cooper.

To top it all, he did the same again the next day at the novice trial held by Dukeries Gundog Club and judged by Mr W Young and Mr J Naylor. These wins give Glen his KC Stud Book Number and

provided Glen with the honour of being mentioned on the Kennel Club's website - see

I am still over the moon after Glen's success and overwhelmed by the reactions. My special thanks go to Peter O'Driscoll for all the encouragement and help both he a Geraldine have given us.

We had no luck at the next two trials - but who's complaining???!

Thank you Linda for taking the photos:-))
