Happy Birthday Romã!

Dear Romã,

 

I can't believe that it has been two years since I saw you coming into this crazy world of ours. You are now becoming a lovely young lady, and I feel you are old enough to understand most of what I wish to say to you today.

 

I was having trouble choosing one of you, because you were such an amazing lot of 12 happy puppies, but there was something in your eyes and the way you looked at me and came to me when all your brothers and sisters were done playing with me that began to melt my hart away. 

When it was time to send all you kids to your new homes, I knew I could never let you go, and so you stayed with me and your mom. We must tell you we do not regret our decision - you were the best thing that could have happened to us.

 

Every day you show us what it means to live with an Irish happy girl - All those terrible things you already went trough made you stronger and happier - you did not get lost in all the pain and discomfort, and every time you bounced back a better setter for it!

 

I look in your eyes and I see that sparkle that makes us laugh when you are misbehaving, while we think "next time I'll set her straight, she looks too cute right now". There is also that brightness that means "I love you more than anything in this World" when you look at us, that melts our hearts away, and fades all troubles while we are next to you.

 

I love how you wave your tail in the middle of the night, because you opened your eyes and were glad to see me. I love how you always find a way to get in the middle of my legs, and make me trip while I walk. I love how you hug me every time I put on a white shirt. I love how you look while I'm drying you up after a bath. I love you when I look at you, and I love when I think of you.

 

Thank you so much for being the wonderful setter you are, and for filling our lives with your joy and kindness.

Thank you for teaching us what a setter is all about, and making us better humans/dogs for it. What amazing two years you have given us so far! I really hope there are many more to come, and that you may remain our wonderful little girl for a long, long time.
