My poor laddie Legolas had the misfortune to brake his shoulder last March and he tore the tendon away from his scapula so hard that he pulled a little piece of bone with it...nasty. He had to be put under several times for a variety of x-rays and then again for a deep steroid injection into his joint. Meanwhile he had two separate surgeries to remove 8 mysterious lumps from his body. He had large shaved patches like the one below all over his body, my poor baby looked like a cyborg that had been through a war. I was a wreck awaiting the results from the lumps but thankfully they were all clear.

His shoulder hasn't healed up fully yet & he's been back to the vet several times since. I noticed lately his limp was becoming more pronounced...so back to the vets. She recommended another injection and took his bloods. He went under again on wednesday morning. They decided to do his teeth while he was asleep and the vet noticed one of his large back molars was cracked in two. I couldn't believe it as he had never shown signs of discomfort & he never stopped eating, I hope it was recent  and that he wasn't in much pain. He had his teeth done in April and they were fine. Anyway she had to brake it up and cut his jaw to get it out completely.

Needless to say his poor mouth is in a bad way. He's on a lot of pain killers & two different antibiotics and because of this she couldn't give him the steroid injection plus his xrays are different to the last ones so they have to be sent away to Cork. At the moment it looks like he'll be back in two weeks time to go under again & get his injection & check his mouth.

I'm hoping all will go well and that he won't have to go through anything else for quite some time, I think he's had his fair share of vet visits for a while ! I'm sure anyone who's had a beastie go under anesthetic will recognise that sleepy red-eye look!

To all my friends on ES many, many thanks for your kind well wishes for my baby Legolas !! He's doing well and for once in his life , taking his time while eating :) It can be a challange to get him to take all those meds twice a day but we're getting there.

I shall pass on your hugs :) and keep you posted. Let's hope next wednesday will be his last 'big' visit, I really don't like him having to have sooooo many general anesthetics...it's always a worry for me when he goes under.

Thanks again ...your comments are much appreciated !

I hope that he will recover fully soon. I do hope that he gets over the 'bleary eyed' look, I know it all too well....Good luck with the healing....they are really resilient but some do take longer than others to heal, but I am sure that he will recover soon...
