Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World
These three cuties are 5 week old Rafeiros Alentejanos, a portuguese cattle/guard breed. They are very young, but their mum is a sheep dog, and earlier this week decided she had done enough parenting, left her babies behind and has been living with her herd ever since! I decided it was best for them to be around people and other dogs, instead of being alone, hiding out most of the time, so they have come to live with us for the time being!
When they are old enough, one of the brothers and the sister will leave to their new homes, and our boy will become our very own guard dog/ sheep dog.
He does not have a name yet, and we are having trouble finding a suitable fruit or vegetable to name our new boy, but I'll be sure to post our final decision. For now, I proudly present our new boy:
"Arti" for artichoke
Kale for curly Kale
pumpkin
sorry I will stop now lol
Thank you for all your sugestions, i really liked pepper and pumpkin!
We were having trouble because my dad wanted to name him Figo (fig) after our late dog, and my mum did not want to repeat the name. We decided to name him Trigo (wheat), because it sounds similar, but it is no the same, so both my parents were happy! =)
I do think he'll grow into a very handsome boy, and hope he'll be fit for his job!
Yvonne and Dee,
Trigo is not going to be named pumpkin, but I'm surely going to take it into consideration for my next Red! =)
It sounds perfect for a crazy little Red =)
Sherry,
pepper will remain in my short list for any dog!
Next time I'll just start a discussion about this in the forum and wait for your sugestions! =)
