It always makes me smile when we say we 'own' our Irish Setters, I'm not convinced. I have a feeling that they own us and if we're very good they will do exactly what we would like them to do in their time. What other dogs eat when they want, sleep when they want, play non stop and generally cause havoc and mischief - oh what fun it is to be 'owned' by an Irish Setter or two or am I just too soft? Love you Hamilton and Micawber well 99% of the time!!
Hi Gigi
Totally agree with you, I think it might be more than 2 years for us to be trained by them, I'm still learning after 30 years maybe a slow learner.
My husband laughts when I say that I own my setters. He reckons its the other way around. I have been up since 04.30 this morning as Kerry decided she wanted to go outside and have a break from her pups. While I was up the others decided it was time for a play so I ended up taking them all for a walk by torch light. Even in the show ring Kerry and Nuela will decide if they are going to show or NOT. I could jump through hoops but if they don't fancy showing then it is OVER. But they are all adored from oldies down to the puppies and well I don't think I would have it any other way as they are a cool bunch of dogs to live with (well most of the time)!!.
