Exclusively Setters

Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World

Shea had an operation a few weeks back to remove a stone from his small intestine, he isn't really in the habit of eating stones but he likes to chew them and I think this one he may have tossed into the air and it went down before he knew it. As you can imagine we are paranoid about him picking things up now, but he will insist on doing it, he wants to chew allot, even down to his blanket and we really are worried about him swallowing things that are going to cause problems. He has lots of toys for a powerful chewer but sometimes he prefers anything but. is this a common thing with setters? We try to get him to drop things if we suspect he has picked them up but he often just swallows them before we can get to him. Has anybody got any advice please?
