After loosing my beautiful girl Jasmine...(aka Irish Show Champion Caspians Modesty JW) I now only have two Irish again....Kirkavagh Darara At Mayfred (Saffy) and her son Mayfred Mr Magnifico (Findlay) I have now added another wonderful baby to my house, so am back to three...
How long have you owned Irish Setters?
since 1971
About Me:
I am retired and my life revolves around my grandchildren and my dogs. If I am not with one I am with the other. We all like going on country walks, and to the beach, I spend a lot of time traveling to and from shows, both in Scotland/England and Ireland. Saffy and Fin travel to the shows with me, but I only show Fin at the moment, he is doing very nicely for me in his first couple of years in the ring, and is enjoying, (probably too much), his show career. Because he is a very naughty boy at times...But has learned that his 'job' is in the ring. And he loves it..
Just added my new baby girl...Suteresett Mine Mine Mine at Mayfred....she is by Mr Jingles out of Suteresett Black Magic....she is at the moment a typical baby, into everything but she is all Mine.a little treasure. and she has settled into our house as though she has been here forever..

Hi Dee ,

Wish you all the best !

Going backwards...Im not so certain that is such a good idea...soon you will have to start driving a bus again...and that may not be such a good idea with a new puppy to look after! :-)
I have a total break-down every time I stay in a hotel and am confronted with those huge mirrors and bright light...something to be said for low-voltage bulbs and old mirrors...:-)
hi dee
i wonder if you can advice me as i got a fright this evening as noted fresh blood in baileys faeces his stomach has been a bit upset over the last week or so but i just put it down to a change in his diet
there was spots of blood here and there in the snow also noted him licking at his bottom after this
i have been looking for some causes of this on the net and some sites have said it can be caused by the parvo virus and also worms can cause this to
bailey was infested with worms when i got him do you think it could be the problem and have you experienced this with your setters
otherwise he is his usually lively self with a good appetite
its a long time until tomorrow and to top matters i'm working until 3 and i just want to get him checked out
Thank you for wishes on my birthday. The day has been very nice with many friends :)
Hope you have been nice christmas and hope it will be so on.
Success for the year 2010.
Anu & co.
When I was a child that birthday was awful. Never anyone came to visiting (except my grandparents), but nowdays I think it's very good. Christmasday is almost only day when I can be "on holiday" :)))
Hi Dee. Thanks for your message. You aren't very far from us, and in fact you are even nearer to where we re-homed Murphy from! Loved looking at your photos. Such beautiful girls. I hope they're enjoying the snow - Luna and Murphy certainly are! Murphy has a crazy mad turn around the garden every morning when he finds it's still here! Very glad to have found this network, and thanks for making contact :-)
hiya dee
hope you all had a lovely christmas
sorry late getting back to you the vet gave bailey some wormer the blood in his poo has been a one off thank goodness so maybe worms have been the problem
bailey just adoring this cold snap and all the snow were getting at the mo
anyway wish you and the gang all the best for 2010
hi Dee, hope i did not offend you!
i know that the vizsla that came with the hungarians back then was later on mixed with the turk's sloughi, but that was also a long time ago.
on the other hand, i can imagine that some breeders here and there used irish setter to "improve" certain traits, like darker colour (which definately should NOT be dark) or darker eyes (but the real vizsla does not have dark brown eyes as an irish setter!).
i also know of a breeder here in hungary who did this some 10-20 years ago and he mixed in even pointers - but definately not officially...
sorry to hear about the problems, usually they are quite okey regarding allergies. one of my best friends is a vizsla breeder and her husband president of the vizsla club here and i asked her earlier about bloat (and other things, we discuss a lot :) ) but they don't have it. she only knows about one case and that happened to a male over 10 years... as i have seen MANY vizslas, i would say they are similar in shape but then again, nothing to compare to an irish setter. they are broader in front and are more barrel chested, like english setters for example.
also thanks for the b-day wishes, my biggest wish is that my tooth gets pulled finally, have been in pain for 3 days now but all my face is swollen and there is a big inflammation, so the dentist can't remove it... yet... maybe tomorrow... would love to have a drink as well but i am on strong meds now... brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
Thank You for my birthday wishes. Happy New Year to you too. Love all your pictures of your Irish Setters. They are beautiful. My dear Jillian is 9 and it is strange not to have Tucker with us this Holiday Season. Jillian's Cousin Veronica was to come in October, but some complications came up so she is on hold for now.
Hello Dee,
Charlie probably will be shown in Poland so he will meet with Newton in one class. But I am sure that in this season there will be huge competition in puppy and junior class. It is going to be interesting year!:)
I think if you just check out the pet-shops or have a look at the next show you will find the long-string balls.
And (to Rusa) the far superiour quality...bounces all over the place...but further!
So I keep that one as an outdoor-toy.
Rusa is also daft enough to bang ball with sting on her head...
