About Me:
I grew up with dogs as my grandfather was head gamekeeper on a large estate in Scotland, my home country; he bred labradors and as a family we also owned several German Shepherds. I have been in love with Irish Setters since I was at University but didn't own one until 1983 since when I have been owned by many setters. The dogs don't so much live with me but rather tolerate me living with them!

Welcome Lynne. This is a great site, and I'm sure you will enjoy it very much. I'm Lynn also, from Melbourne Australia. I have 2 Setters, one Irish and one English. Both are 6yrs old. We got them as baby puppies together and they've been inseparable ever since. I just love both breeds. We've had Irish Setters before, but this is our first time with an English. They are very similar in personality. Both girls are very quiet and gentle and just a pleasure to live with.

    Again Welcome.

Lynn, Tess (Irish) & Megg (English) from Australia.

    Hi there Lynne
Thanks for your thoughts, I think she is at last on the mend, she seems back to her old self, just a little devoid of hair, why is it vets have to shave so much coat of???? Thanks for the request as well. Dee and the girls

Lynne - lovely to hear from you. Yes I remember all the good times! Having fun but yes, wish I was in England more - especially with Cassidy! love Rachel
  • Rachel Shaw-Rainey

Judged Cassidy at 3 months 1 week in Belgium and asked if I could have him!! Frances very kindly said OK so got him at Crufts this year when he was 13 months old. He is full of "Irish blarney" even with the foreign accent! Love his temperament though. He goes back to all the lovely old Wendover dogs - Gold Eagle, Wynjil, Danaway - loads of really nice stuff. Was surprised when I took the pedigree back. First few generations really good european stock. Absolutely over the moon I am so lucky if only I could be rich as well.....
  • Rachel Shaw-Rainey

I know but I would just like to work part time at least before I'm too old to enjoy retirement!! Better to be lucky though!
  • McBIRDY - Jean DUHANT

Hi, thanks for your attention for our Frisbee's puppies.
She is recovering very well ! For the collars , they are in cotton .
We buy them in a shop who is specialized for the wool, tissues, buttons... We begin by the red for the first puppy and then the other colours of the rainbow..and then we mix two colours !
Have to change them every day ! Never had problem with them !
    Have a nice sunday !

Hi Lynne, I'm new to this site. Me hubby and reds were living in Bournemouth Dorset and then we decided to move to Spain in 2006. Our boy and girl settled in brilliantly and did excellent on the crossing from Poole to St Malo. You probably know a few of the same people I knew as I used to be in the show ring more so in the late 70's and early 80's and then again in 2000 I miss it, in alot of ways, Dog shows are not as plentyfull here in Almeria Spain Can I add you as a friend as it is good to keep in touch with Red owners in uk. I thought that Fin would stop the chewing when he got all his adult teeth, well he has all of them BUT the chewing still goes on, perhaps its because he still hasn't lost the puppy eye teeth they are still firmly stuck in his jaw. Give it a little more time and then perhaps have to do something about it, or he will cost me a fortune. Your baby looks lovely All the best Dee and the gang

thanks for your comment, Lynne. i love that picture, but it is not professional enough, bad light, no real sharpness :-) i know, i am too critical... the pup just turned 5 years yesterday!

looking forward to catching up with you at Crufts
