Two again. Darwin (17/10/2004) and Mac (born 1/6/11).
How long have you owned Irish Setters?
Since 1996
About Me:
My love story with Irish setters started in 1996 with the most wonderful IS ever - MC, a field trial with Monroad ancestors. I was so lucky to have this very special and clever boy!!! Unfortunately, I lost him in May 2010, a couple of days short before his 14th birthday.
In between, in January 2005 came very handsome Darwin, the sweetest nature possible, Irish born with Thendara gd-parents. Recently we had a new addition to the family, Mac (the holy terror), born the 1/6/2011 from Sumaric Mr. Jingles and Thendara Vanilla Ice.
thank you! About the petfood industry we had a tv programme in the Netherlands a while ago. The programme is on youtube in four parts and it's worth to click further after part one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=NL&hl=nl&v=0AVm9CjiipM It is a Dutch programme but most of it is spoken in English.
thank you for the birthday wishes . guinness decided to bring me a "B-day" pine tree root ( about 5 " long.) unfortunately...... it came from a 2' x 3' hole he dug in the yard.i always say ; its the thought that counts.
Millie is Maggie's from a year ago. Murphy we got from a wonderful breeder in PA. But we bred Maggie again the other day to the same stud as before. I had a couple of people wanting her puppies again. One man had throat cancer and he wanted one for his little girl. And another couple got two brothers from the last litter one for their little 4 yr. old girl and one for their 8 year old son. Someone ran over her little boys and the Mother called me crying wanting another brother. They ran over it in her own yard. I wasn't going to breed her but these were terrible stories.
Thnx for welcoming me here, I have another account here, send U a request.
I don't have any breeding plans here in Canada, my husband's allergies don't allow me to keep dogs. And keeping IS in a outdoor kennel here isn't an option because wintertemperature might drop below -50°c. But I still love the breed.
Lucy always makes my days fun. She is currently at rehab. for the hip replacement she just went through. She is supposed to remain quiet and in one room for 3 months. It has been 5 wks and we are not following the rules very well!
Hi Chantal,
Tank you for your kind comments, I'm pleased you found the database interesting and useful, please tell your friends about it. If you want to send me details of your dogs I will add them to the database, or update them and if need be will add them to the In Memory section. You can send photos and pedigree details to my e-mail: hooley1@virginmedia.com
thank you for your birthday wishes
i was going to rehome Luc's Irish Setter from Belgium
but not heard from him, so its not meant to be
i hope the dog finds a good home
but yes, i will get an Irish Setter soon
Hi,haven't been on for awhile. Lucy is doing fine. I have heard that it takes us a year to recover from hip replacement. Lucy has done it in two months. She goes back for her last xray in the next couple of weeks to make sure everything is OK. She is running and playing with her brother. Life is Good!
Hi Chantal thankyou for your comment on my blog.Morgan had a tumor on his liver we noticed a lump took him to the vet and had exploratory surgery and the lump was so big it was to cruel to wake him up.He didn't suffer at all but it was a dreadful blow that has taken till now to not weep over losing him, even as I write this the emotion wells up I loved him more than words can say. kind regards Peter
Hi Chantal! The puppy has indeed arrived......and all the chaos that brings with it. We've called her Maisie - and she's a real sweetie, but with some spirit too. I'm sorry I haven't got round to putting up pics yet but I will as soon as possible now. It's been rather a testing few weeks - with various trips to the vets for both of them. Lottie woke us up early one morning to tell us she really wasn't feeling right...and she was right to do so - she had bloat and needed an emergency operation for GDV. The vet was marvellous and you can hardly even see the scar already. Then Maisie got ambushed at Puppy Playgroup and bashed her back leg.....much limping and soreness - so two rounds of xrays and consultations - and it would seem it is just a bad sprain but has been a bit of a worry in one so young.
I am sooo looking forward to a few months time when Maisie will be bigger and we can go for some wonderful long walks all together.
Mia makes my day every day just love to wake and see her every day. Mind you it is a special birthday i'm 50 today. Thankyou for your lovely words. xxx
Hi Chantal, hard to know what the secret is with her long life but she is simply a great family pet to us. She is well pampered and has always had the best seat on the couch. She is certainly feeling the cold now and is sporting a checked jacket to keep her warmer as she sits close to the radiator. Love looking at the photos, remind me of when Pene was a hyperactive puppy (which of course lasted until she was 7yrs old!).
She is getting a monthly shot to help with the arthritis so hoping she is comfortable for the next while. Will try to post some photo's soon.
many thanks had a lovely day puppies due this thursday so hoping all goes well wishing you a happy christmas and new year will let you know when annie has pups

Hi Chantal, thank you and merry Xmas to you too... I've finally got round to uploading a few pictures of our boy, so far I'd been too busy looking at everybody else's setters, there are so many lovely pictures on this site!
Hi Chantal and many thanks for your nice words about Enjoy. He was 3 months old this time and was searching a bird. He found it and walked away with him like he found a piece of gold ! A real pleasure to see...
Thanks so much. Wanted to let you know that Maggie had her puppies, 5 males and 3 females. Maggie is such a good Momma. I was there and able to help her through everything.
Maggie is doing so well with the babies. She only had 8 and it has not been as hard on her as if it had been a litter of 12 or 13. We have not really had to do anything for the puppies. I am petting Maggie a lot. I carry her food and water to her. She loves to go outside and play but it is only for 3 or 4 minutes at a time. I have Murphy that is my stud. His mom and dad both were show dogs with the long flowing hair. Maggie is field type and Murphy is a show dog. I will not allow her to be bred for a year and a half or so. She is my baby. There are no Irish Setters around here our vet said. We are trying to bring back this wonderful breed. Maggie is from the Redland bloodline which were champions. I am keeping one of her girls for me. Going to name her after my daughters-in-law. Their middle names are Brooke and Lynn so she will be Brooklyn.
Hi Chantal, thank you so much. Meg is a very affectionate lass. We will be adding more pictures to the site over the next few days. Meg and Murphy are now 9 months old and are the first Irish Setters Helen and I have had. They are a wonderful breed. Helen has had a chocolate labrator and I used to to have a Golden retriever.
