Two again. Darwin (17/10/2004) and Mac (born 1/6/11).
How long have you owned Irish Setters?
Since 1996
About Me:
My love story with Irish setters started in 1996 with the most wonderful IS ever - MC, a field trial with Monroad ancestors. I was so lucky to have this very special and clever boy!!! Unfortunately, I lost him in May 2010, a couple of days short before his 14th birthday.
In between, in January 2005 came very handsome Darwin, the sweetest nature possible, Irish born with Thendara gd-parents. Recently we had a new addition to the family, Mac (the holy terror), born the 1/6/2011 from Sumaric Mr. Jingles and Thendara Vanilla Ice.
Sorry it has taken a while to return your comment,
I will be getting the pup from a breeder in queensland Australia but not Myra, not sure who that is. but we are willing to sit back and wait and get what want.
Looking through this site has really made me appreciate the setters again and what a lovely animal they are.
Thank you very much for your king words, Pitanga and Romã are so glad to be together that I think that will be half of their recovery. I'm just so glad that Romã survived all this and will have so little damage =)
Hi Chantal ! On behalf of Lego ...many thanks for both the birthday wishes & the good luck for the 19th. Long live the wiry look :) who knows maybe it'll catch on ...or maybe not :)
Hi, many thanks for the birthday wishes. Bailey almost got ALL the cake. He jumped up when my daughters brought it into the room and he blew out all the candles. They had to retreat and relight my candles. Never a dull moment with a setter. He makes me laugh every single day.
Thank-you for your kind words about my photos Chantal. I must upload some more recent ones as the puppy in them is now 6 and we have a new pup (although 15 months now) and our lovely springer. I am loving your photos although the one with the setter leaning out of the window scared me!! Darwin looks georgeous and so nice natured, I am very envious of that wonderful beach for him to play on. :0)
Thanks for the comments on Jas's pictures. She is looking really good, and sleeping really well...does a whole lot of sleeping now that she is older....well so would I given the chance....ha ha
Chantal ....should we help you on that birthday surprise by hinting to someone special of what would be the perfect gift? What an awesome present that would be for you....and then you could make me crazy showing all your puppy pictures ( even though I know I should resist looking at puppies I can not not look), Hoping when the time is right for you that the perfect puppy comes into your life.....I know for us it was Molly this time around and after a year and a half of being owned by her the feelings just get stronger on this was meant to be for my family....it is like everyday one of us wonders why anyone would have wanted to put her down.....she just keeps amazing us with her antics....(not bad ones but ones she knows will make us laugh and keep her the center of attention here) and how she knows exactly what act to perform for each audience.....thought I had seen it all with my boys but Molly goes beyond them!
Hi Chantal yes Elton and little Cato are running around driving Rahni nuts. If we let Rahni out he crashes into Elton and we're worried they will hurt themselves. We take them to my sisters behind our place she has a secure large area with no obstacles they don't seem to smash into each other. The affys are very affectionate and our guys have a lovely nature I don't think as trusting as IS. I trust the Irish with children we have never known an IS to retaliate but not completely sure with the affys
Thank you so very much for your comments, she is such a wonderful old girl....she is my 'rubber ball' she just keeps bouncing back...I am so thankful for that, she is now going out for walks every other day...and is doing really well, but her sleeping....I just have got to go and look at her, to make sure that she is still breathing...we live from day to day..I am so grateful to everyone who has asked after her, if wishes could save them...this is why she is still here, I think..everyone seems to love her. She has been on the site for a long time and everyone has watched her get her title, and now getting old...liquise Fin people have watched from the proposed mating and then the birth and now his winnings and him growing into an adult...thank you for Jasmines cuddles she appreciates all of the extras...
Hi Chantal...delighted to be your friend....and wondering just when you are going to add a wee fried for Darwin...I am trying to not fall too much in love with all the puppies on here but gets harder all the time as I bet you are saying also.
incorrect guess, it is nightmare monster Neita :-))) she is the most loving, most intelligent, most talented, most beautiful girl - but she is the most monstrous as well of all dogs i've ever had :-) now off to our groomer, show time during the weekend, for the first time this year. looking forward to it!
Thanks for the b-day wishes, Chantal. I didn't realize that b-days even showed up on Exclusively setters. Looks like your b-day was a few days ago—hope you had a wonderful day
Yes, I will always be totally in love with our (not-so-little) puppies. Dasher went to his forever home last weekend, and I could't stop crying, fortunately after they left. They are a wonderful family, and totally in love with him. Also, they're about an hour's drive away, so we'll get to stay in touch. Today we went to the vet for 1st rabies shot, and Chuckles was there with his new family. It was a joy to see him, and they all seem very happy. It was a wonderful b-day gift for me.
Not quite sure what you mean but here are there parents and pedigree names, i do have Simba's fifth generation pedigree somewhere but obviously i have not got samson's yet.
Glad to be of some help. I know what you mean about diva breeders i meet a few since purchasing simba (keep you hanging on for a decision for one of there pups and make you feel you are not good enough for there pups) In all fairness i was very lucky with Samson as he was advertised in a local paper and rang on a off chance to see if they still had him, on visiting them they were so took up with simba and me that they wanted us to have him.(someone was let down).Simba was a chance purchase i got made redundant and had a big payout at the time i was doing a lot of deer photography on the quntocks and joked with my partner that it would be nice to have a dog to take with me, she said why not. So she went shopping and i looked on the internet obviously for an Irish and found one that night in Cornwall a bit far to go as i do not drive and my partner hates motorways but it was worth it. So really i was very lucky getting both of them.
Simba was my first dog but i had had experience with setter's as a child. I would like one day to perhaps have a dabble at breeding and i think Samson would make a good stud.
Anyway enough of my rambling on. I wish the best of luck with your search for a pup
We're down to 2 pups, Donder and Checkers, and it gets harder to give them up the longer they are with us. Dasher went to a new home a week from Sunday, and I really felt the loss, and I think Donder and Checkers did too, also my husband Matt. He's in a great home, though, and will be a very special companion for his new family, one of whom went through a liver transplant and wanted a special companion to hang out with and go for walks in the Sonoma County County countryside. Dasher, now Murphy, will be great for this.
We've been working on pottytraining and leash walking with Donder and Checkers, and they're learning. We had a horrible experience on Sunday, though. We had all the dogs out to a little café with outdoor seating, when suddenly I realized Donder was loose and wandering into the street—just as a car rolled up. I yelled in panic and ran for him, but then I saw his head next to a parked car, OK, but Checkers raced down the street as if a banshee were chasing him. He abruptly turned left at the next corner, and when I got up to it, he was sitting about 30 feet down, very frightened. I got down on a knee, held my arms out and called to him in a gentle, encouraging voice, and he gladly ran back to me.
When we got back to the café, we discovered that Ruby, who was attached to Matt's chair, ran in the commotion, dragging the chair into the table, which tipped over, breaking all of the dishes and destroying our lunch and coffee. Ruby ran out into the busy street, but miraculously wasn't hurt. Afterward, we all settled down, but our nerves were frazzled.
Hi Chantal ! many thanks for the well wishes for Legolas, glad you like the picture, it was taken just a few hours after his general anesthetic so he's pretty out of it, it was only today that he seemed more like his usual self. Yes many dvd's on the horizon :) let's hope we haven't driven each other crazy before the two weeks are over :) xx
