Profile Information:

How many Irish Setters do you have?
Two again. Darwin (17/10/2004) and Mac (born 1/6/11).
How long have you owned Irish Setters?
Since 1996
About Me:
My love story with Irish setters started in 1996 with the most wonderful IS ever - MC, a field trial with Monroad ancestors. I was so lucky to have this very special and clever boy!!! Unfortunately, I lost him in May 2010, a couple of days short before his 14th birthday.
In between, in January 2005 came very handsome Darwin, the sweetest nature possible, Irish born with Thendara gd-parents. Recently we had a new addition to the family, Mac (the holy terror), born the 1/6/2011 from Sumaric Mr. Jingles and Thendara Vanilla Ice.

Thank you  very much Chantal. My Irish Setter is called Miley, he is 18 months and adorable. I lost my method of contact with the people I got him from and regretted not being able to update them. Just today I remembered being told about this site, and voila!! I will upload photos when I get a chance, meanwhile I am sure Sjoerd Bosch won't mind me telling you that you can see photos of Miley's parents Jake and Shannon on Sjoerd's page....... and apparently Miley and his brother Mac (also on this site) seem to have inherited their dad's habit of shredding their bedding.

Chantal, I have been reading all the comments on your blog and its apparent your heart is broken and I am so sorry for you. Our beautiful Irish capture our hearts as you know we had a very worrying time recently and I couldn't function as I was so heart broken, I felt I just wanted to acknowledge how you feel and when you are ready to share your experience I hope you find comfort in how much folks on ES genuinely care xx

  • Henk ten Klooster

Thanks for your wishes Chantal. It was celebrated in a great region of Germany, the witchrocks of the Harz means walking and swimming with all four setters. Faraway from screens being blinded by nature feels fine!

Hi Chantal my wife Susan pretty much keeps the camera on standby 24/7 if anyone can get a pic she will .The roos are very hard to get near they spook and run very easily we keep the dogs inside around the time they come through each day and the affys are never allowed to run in the paddock there are too many burrs to let them off plus the fact that they tend to run off

Chantal, your IS are beautiful - I m new to this site but loving it - I live in the Pacific Northwest of United States am originally from Vancouve BC Canada - I live about

five mins from the US/Canada Border so can get to Vancouver easily.  There

are very few Irish Setters in this part of the States.  Whenever I take one or

both with me somewhere - I get so many compliments on how beautiful

and rare they are.  We love them and we are going to be adding to our

family in about a month and a half - a friend of mine in Oregon is having

a litter and we will be getting one - not sure yet if it will be a little boy

or girl.  My friend is very special that is having the litter = we befriended

each other on Craigslist when she was seeking to get a new puppy - she

had just lost her precious girl and one month before I had lost my precious

Molly.  So happy to have found this site - it s wonderful.  Going to work

out in the garden with the dogs help and enjoy the 80 degree sunny

labor day weekend weather.  Have a wonderful weekend.

    Thanks so very much Chantal

  • Andrea Bassil

Hello Chantal, Thanks for your birthday greetings. Sadly because Kimba was starved and only fed raw sausage meat she is only allowed prescription diet so birthday cake is not an option for her. She had malnutrition when she came to me and was 10 kilos underweight but she is the happiest setter you could meet. She is now 30kilos!

    Cheers,

    Andrea

  • Finding_Beau

    Dear Chantal

Thank you for caring. I already have 2 dogs who I love with all my heart, Hobson and Rose. Now is not the time for a puppy. Rose is seriously ill and I have to prepare myself that she might die soon. Hobson is worried about Rose, grieving for Hammer and he is not well. Unlike with Hammer, I have finally found a decent vet so at least I have his help every week to do what we can for Rose. Because of the misdiagnoses and mismanagement of previous vets it is going to take some time to get Hobson back. Every one who sees him thinks he is a very old dog. Hammer would still be alive if it had not been for the vet in GP I trusted. This happens to all of us. However all we can do is make the best decisions we can at the time for our beautiful Setter children and each one of them knows how much we love them. You cannot fake love.

    Take care

    Susan

  • Yvonne Wark

Hello Chantal was lovely meeting with you, David, Darwin and the put upon Mac.  Your boys are so gorgeous.  I hope you get on well at Macs first show let us know how he gets on.

As you can see we are back home in Bonnie Scotland we managed to get the 4.30 ferry which was great xx

  • Dee Rance

Hi there Chantal Hope that your wee boy got over his 'first' show, he looked so laid back...but having his half brother here I know that can be a false impression on their real charector...but just love that 'jingley' cheekyness...do let us know how he gets on at his first....entered show...

  • Laura Kolbach

hi Chantal, just wanted to say thanks for all your comments on my pictures. not only now, but continuously :-)
