How many Irish Setters do you have?
1
How long have you owned Irish Setters?
Since May 2010
About Me:
This is the first Irish Setter I have owned and she is a little darling. I was very privileged to have been involved with her from day one so. It has been amazing to see her grow into the lovely character that she is.

I started showing her 5 days after she was six months and she is doing ok. This is the first time I have shown dogs and think it will take me a while before the adrenalin stops and the nerves subside.
I also have a springer x collie who has had to put up with a lot from madam. I have always had dogs in my life mostly labs so this is a brave but worthwhile departure!!

    Welcome Aboard, and Enjoy!
Where are you getting your Setter from?
    Cheers, from Down Under,
    Myra.

How is Holly getting on? I look forward to seeing some more pictures soon. Has she been posing with Cassie? Look forward to seeing you at SKC. Cuddles from her Auntie Maeve and (almost) Auntie Bridget.

Hi there Welcome to the site, I do remember you from the show, hope to see you in the future too, Do speak because I am not good with faces....not good with a lot of things..;o))
All the best Dee and the gang
ps love the pictures of your wee girl, what did you call her...??
  • Dee Rance

I can't wait to see your wee girl, I wanted to go and see the babies at the puppy party, but my kids were just getting over a stomach problem and I didn't want to pass anything on. So staid away.
Will you be going to Border Union for a look see???? or perhaps you wont like to leave your baby girl for too long...
All the best Dee and the gang
  • Dee Rance

Hi thereAh well if you feel like going and want a lift then just give me a call, I am going. The fact that she will walk for a treat is great, mine arn't into food at the moment, you would think that I was poisening them, well can't count Jas she will eat everything (bless her)
And that you love her to bits is all that counts. Can't wait to see her. All the best Dee and the gang

Hi Yvonne, I'm sure you'll get on beautifully on Holly's first stroll out into the big world, and she has a lovely big sis to keep her right. Your pictures are just super. She's such a pretty girl and I can see she's made herself at home and told you about setters, cushions and sofas. That, and good food and cuddles and its all you need to know. Cassie's a cutie too and it looks like they are bonding nicely. Our two are fine. Sadly they appear to be cultivating dreadlocks so I have a mountain to climb on the grooming before the Dundee show on Saturday. Bridget also has her first Therapet assignment starting on Friday afternoon, so that should be interesting. Cuddles to your girls, Ruth
  • Ruth Findlay

Hi Yvonne, How did the first excursion go? Now Holly is socialising, it'll be nice if she can meet her Auntie Maeve sometime - and her semi-auntie Bridget of course. Cheers, Ruth
  • Ruth Findlay

    Hi Yvonne,
No, like you I'm not going to Border Union. In fact I have no entries in at the moment although I will do the local ones in August. We should fix up a wee setter party soon. We are a bit stuck at the moment with stock in the favourite fields and our usual walk is a bit rough for Holly, but wouldn't it be nice to take them all to Tentsmuir beach? Our girls love it there and if we do it before the school holidays you get a wonderful empty beach. I've just been on the phone to Hilda for ages and it was in my mind to mention this but forgot. Cuddles to Holly from me and her Aunties.
  • Ruth Findlay

Ooops! Did I say "setter" party. Sorry Cassie. Collies more than welcome!
  • Ruth Findlay

Hi Yvonne, The schools will be breaking up for hols around the end of next week so what about next Wednesday afternoon? I'll drop Hilda an e mail and see if she's up for it and my friend Pat will come with her standard poodle. I just thought - are you working then?
Let me know on this or ruthfindlay@macace.net if that suits or we will rethink. Cuddles to Cassie and Holly from me and her aunties
  • Dee Rance

Thanks so much for that, I think that I will be very lucky to do anything....but hey if your not in it you can't win it...Speak soon Dee and the gang
  • sarah jackson

Hi Holly and Cassie, Thank you for your comments and we love your photo's....life looks good! Jasmine woke up, went for a rough and tumble with duck, duck (stuffed toy!) and is now zonked on my lap. As you said...pure joy.
  • Charlotte Godart - Riverwood

    Hi,
Thank you very mych for your comments !
    Regards, Charlotte
  • Dee Rance

    Thank you for your thoughts...;o))
  • Dee Rance

Your little girl is very sweet where is she next??? I just hope that that the vaccine works, but will keep fingers crossed. Thank you so much for your thoughts.
  • Dee Rance

    Hi there Yvonne etc...
Yes will be there, will you be going down with Hilda???
She is a pretty baby, by one of his dogs, so you stand as much chance as anyone else,
Thank you for the congrats, problem is it puts me out of Novice, in one fowl swoop Ah well there you go, I have to say that it was a bit of a shock, as all the other boys in that class were nearly 18 months, and he is such a baby, well only 13 months, one day he may well actually grow up. well perhaps not....:o))
See you on Sunday Dee and the gang
  • Dee Rance

Ah that is very civilised...I am traveling down overnight, (As usual) and will be sleeping in the back with the 'kids' hope that it isn't too cold, there are frosts expected some time this week, ah well the dogs will keep me worm...
Do the Days Inn's accept dogs??? next weekend I am going to Driffield and the ISAE so have a travelodge but refuse to pay for the dogs, £19 for the room and two dogs at £20 each and a third that shouldn't be there anyway, so will just be taking them in and hoping for the best, lets face it one Setter looks much the same as another, well lets hope that the person at reception thinks so....
All the best have a safe trip and see you on Sunday, and Good luck to you....speak soon Dee and the gang
  • Tina Clamp

    hi Yvonne
love seeing your Irish friend inthe usual setter pose laid out on the furniture.
  • Dee Rance

Will we be seeing you, and your young lady, at Tay Valley on Sunday????
  • Dee Rance

Don't belittle yourself, you will do fine, Fin and I will be the 'entertainment' for the day..Fin is an absolute monster...I bet your wee girl is as good as gold....Just glad that you are in puppy and I don't have to compete with her.....See you there......and good luck.....;o))
  • Dee Rance

I will be there on Sunday...problem is, I have lost my schedule, so don't know what I have entered, or even who I have entered...having a C.R.A.F.T. momnet....As for being dumped, well that was a first at the NEEISC, Fin hadn't been dumped like that before, well not in so many classes on the trot, but s**t happens, and you move on the the next show, and keep your fingers crossed that you can get placed there...''Can't win em all'' but definitely would like to...
Apparently there aren't many Irish at Waverley, (but I have heard that one before) are you going to Setter and Pointer???
See you on Sunday all the best Dee and the gang
  • Dee Rance

Setter and Pointer is this Saturday so if you aren't entered then no point....how do you find out where to go for shows??? there are a few more coming up before next year...I have started entering on line now. It costs £1 but is worth it just to get it done without the guess work...
If you need any tidying then just let me know, can't have her going in the ring moth eaten, like Fin did the other day.. one little tip, don't try trimming your dog the night before the show, and in dim light, like I did, a Senior moment that time, I suppose you can't win all the time, though it would be nice, eh!!
Only a few more points for the JW, though I don't suppose that he will get them all..,,,never mind, he is doing well and that is all that matters here,
All the best talk on Sunday Dee and the gang

  • Claire Prangle

    You are more than welcome
  • Chantal McIlveen-Wright

Yes Yvonne, to restrict myself was really hard !!!!  not only there were 11 puppies, but also 8 adults IS, 3 afghans and 3 cats, all of them absolutely magnificent ... what a pleasure to see them all. They were all so calm and content, unbelievable. I had a favourite though ... Pot Noodle, the most wonderful dog I ever saw ... The Mum had enough of her puppies but "uncle" Pot Noodle was playing with them the all day long. It was the most delightful scene I ever saw ... the puppies were jumping on him, biting his legs, his tail, his ears, they were everywhere all over him and he was so nice and soft with them!!!  Noodle is only 9 months old and I really wish I can have such a wonderful dog.....

So we took a wee angel from there, was an angel the first day, a semi angel the second day a wee devil the third day and now he is a terror ... he is challenging Darwin already, he has no fear from anything, I better take things in hand otherwise he will rule us before the age of 4 months !!!!
    Busy, very busy day ahead!!!!!

Hello Yvonne, I wanted to be the first to write to you but you beat me, getting old here, problem with speed these days  :-( ...  I have so much enjoyed meeting you Yvonne, so pleased that you came to wee Ireland and we could finally meet. We love to see friendly setters lovers from Scotland, England and Wales here, we cannot have enough of you all  :-)  Glad you could make it back to Scotland with the 4:30 pm ferry, and enjoy a rest in the evening in beautiful Bonnie Scotland. A huge cuddle to beautiful Holly and your other 4 legged friends.
