Two again. Darwin (17/10/2004) and Mac (born 1/6/11).
How long have you owned Irish Setters?
Since 1996
About Me:
My love story with Irish setters started in 1996 with the most wonderful IS ever - MC, a field trial with Monroad ancestors. I was so lucky to have this very special and clever boy!!! Unfortunately, I lost him in May 2010, a couple of days short before his 14th birthday.
In between, in January 2005 came very handsome Darwin, the sweetest nature possible, Irish born with Thendara gd-parents. Recently we had a new addition to the family, Mac (the holy terror), born the 1/6/2011 from Sumaric Mr. Jingles and Thendara Vanilla Ice.
Hi Chantel so nice to 'meet' you as the owner of one of Beau's brothers - so exciting. When I get time I will put some photos of him on. Do you have any photos of Mac?
Thank you for the lovely greeting Chantal. I am glad you had some sun it was very grey here today. Holly and Cassie are having great fun and we will be having a full sister for them in December. Holly's mum and dad have had another litter so we are gluttons for punishment. Will post plenty of pictures.
Hope you and your three boys, 4 legged and 2 legged variety. Need another blog on Wee Mac and Darwin. Take care Yvonne xx
Hi there I can just imagine you worrying more than Mac. Beau has such a resiliance about him. I will try & put some photos of Beau on soon. What do you feed Mac?
Hi Chantal, Thank you again for your compliments for Hobson. I know I am biassed because I am his mum but I think he is beautiful too. I hope soon that people stop saying "aahh, what a very old dog" when they meet Hobson on our walks. People think Hobson is around 12-13yo. He turned 8yo in June!! The new vet agrees that the long term misdiagned tumour may have caused Hobson's massive weight loss, etc. It will take a few more months to see. xxxx
Thank you Chantal, unfortunately I just have a English Setter now, lost Ruby in Oct 10 and Sham March 11. Life doesn't seem the same without an Irish, looking for a rescue but although we have a 20 acres Heath at front and many more from there our garden is too small, some silly rules.
Hi Chantal ! many thanks for the birthday wishes :) had a very nice day ! Rohan always gives lots of cuddles & slobbery kisses :) we all had a lovely walk in the nearby fields but it was just my Irish Rohan & my two English boys, sadly my old boy Connor (the Collie in the photo) is no longer with us.
Chantal, mon amie, Romeo sends you cuddles & kisses in return for your Birthday wishes. No cake i'm afraid, but lots of lovely meats instead, and as you know, i don't think we can spoil him any more than we already do!
Thanks again for your kind words about Connor, he's gone a while now, my dearest old man, I posted a blog about him back in March, it was his first anniversary away from home after 14 wonderful years together but I still do miss him alot, we never have enough time together with our beastie babies do we?
He does move nicely with his tail not too high. Stacking is another matter. I don't practice as much as I should. He is an Aust Ch now so we don't show him much. Endurance may be his next organised adventure but we have the wheels on the bike attitude to fix. Can not see Phil or I running 20 kilometers. He is slowly getting used to the bike.
I am reading about Mac the holy terror and looking at the gorgeous pup who would not melt butter in his mouth. Thinking what is Chantel talking about (a naughty boy).
Then the photo of the open window!!! Look at me, I am king of the world. Yes that is one Irish Setter devil may care attitude .. I hope this is not a morning ritual just a party trick to scare the family.
Thank you Chantal, yes Kruszynka is still with me. Especially she, because she was a "one person" dog - only mine. We sometimes say about children " eyes sick" - when they can't see mum, they start to cry. So was Kruszynka
Many thanks for your note of welcome to this site. I noticed from your profile that your first Irish had Monruad heritage, way back in the late l960's early '70's a pair of Irish from this kennel was imported into SA, unfortunately the line was not perpetuated here. SA also has links with Thendara and Sumaric UK kennels although they do not appear in my own pedigrees.
Initially my husband and I bought a well bred south African bitch in 1970 sired by the late Joan Anderson's SA Ch Kerry Dancer of Andana which became our foundation brood bitch and over the years imported two Cornevon stud dogs bred by the late Janice Roberts and a bitch from Willie Duynkerke. We have used other UK imported stud dogs from the Danaway and Cataluna kennels in UK.
Like you we have also had a growing pup this year, namely Oakdale's Night of Bliss(b) who has kept us very busy! She and her sibling were sired by Int. FCI & SA Champion Apollo of the Chicken Farm (imp Belgium) out of our homebred SA Ch. Oakdales Sunset Safari. "Bliss" celebrated her first birthday on 9th December.
When we have figured out which buttons we have to press to put a photos into text will let you see this young lady!
