About Me:: My first Irish Setter, Penny, came to me via the dog warden in 1987. My boyfriend owned an Irish Setter and thought that I could care for Penny over the Easter holiday until the dog pound could take her. She had been straying for some time and was a very sorry little girl - she never made it to the pound but stayed with me for 10 years. I loved her and when the opportunity came to have a dog in 2001 it was no contest, it had to be an Irish Setter. Jim Parker and I own eight year old Ruby, Lucy 5 and Georgie 2 and a half. Georgie is a reluctant show girl but we make it up to her with long walks in the woods and the beach and holidays in the Lakes and Scotland.

Thank you for that Maggie, I have contacted IFAW they are people that go into war zones and rescue animals, but they can't even get into Libya they can't take the risk at the moment because the situation is so very volitile...when it calms a little they will get in contact with people out there, but I will try what you suggested. I will try anything...

Thank you again Maggie, It is nice that there are so many that would do the same...I just wish it hadn't happened in the first place...poor wee sole didn't ask to go there, I will still try and keep in touch with the vet, even if the owners think that I am an interfering old cow...but hey we have to be responsible or we become puppy farmers...only my thoughts.....Thank you so much again Dee and the gang

Hi Maggie, nice to hear from you.

I have had both my knees "done" managed to get away with part replacements. It is now 9 weeks since my op and I am getting on fine. Hospital let me out 5 days later because of good progress made. I was discharged earlyfrom specialist until September better still was dicharged from physioterrorist early too.

I am driving, doing most things but I am not back to "normal" as such I seem to have one pace, slow.

Dont feel I can show the dogs just yet maybe towards the back end of the year.They are fine. I see or speak toShiela and Neil Selman on a regular basis, might have a lift to a show to watch some time

hi maggie thanks so much for your message .yes we were there may and june stopped at haven site at cleethorpes for 9 weeks .we are going tomorrow for a week.layla just loves it she s so happy running free .lucy has been doing sumersats all week as caravan outside of house and im sure she tells layla .

Maggie thanks but I had a lots of help and a very willing Murphy who it seems can overcome so much. He really is a joy to love and I am very lucky he is so well. On thursday he has his first session with the physio and will likely have some sessions on the under water treadmill this will undo the extreme side effects of the steroids that caused the muscle wastage. He is looking great just needs a bit of help to get fit again.
