I cant explain why i love Irish Setters so much there is just something special about these dogs my first was Muffin i had him 12 1/2 yrs then Paddy for13 1/2yrs, now my latest boy is Finlay he`s just 2 yrs old
I don't know much about cancer ... although it does seem to affect all of our lives these days as we lose family members and beloved pets to this terrible illness. But it does seem that Finlay is still very much enjoying life and I hope that the two of you will still have lots of many wonderful times together! I also hope that the weather improves for you ... this summer really has not been good in northern Europe. We are currently in the rainy season here in Mexico, so it does rain nearly every day, and often the rain is torrential with thunderstorms like I never experienced them in Europe, but we do have some hours of sunshine every day which makes it easier. Much love and the best wishes, Eileen
Sorry to hear your IS is not well and yes he deserves a lot of care and attention after all the joy they give to us. When I got my 1st IS he was ajoy but when he died I vowed we would never only have just one again so we have had 2 ever since.and they are really good company for each other play and do everything together. the new baby will be our 8th so you have a way to go. Take care and I hope your IS is feeling better.
That's exactly what would have happened to me ... It's good that you are now able to enjoy your time together again. The main thing is that Finlay isn't suffering, from what you've written it sounds as if he's doing just fine. Let's hope that he still has a lot of time left. I think everybody who's in love with their dog, knows what you're going through, just thinking about losing Lucas brings tears to my eyes. We all know that in all probability our pet will leave us before we go (and in fact we wouldn't want it the other way round either ... who would look after and nurse our beloved pet as we will...?), but we only start to prepare ourselves for the inevitable when our pet has already reached a good age ... My heart and all my good wishes and positive thoughts go out to you and Finlay. Kind regards, Eileen, Lucas & Molly
Hi Ellen thank you verry much for Birthday wishes on Friday. We spent the day in Canterbury with a long lunch and some retail therapy, not something I usually get the chance to do at this time of the year with an influx of B&B guests. we booked the weekend off and then spent the rest of the time sorting out a long overdue garage clearance needless to say Hamilton and Micawber were only too eager to 'help'. How is your beautiful Finley?
Hi Ellen, many thanks for all your lively comments on my pics over the past few days. Very happy to be your ES friend :) Your big man is sooo beautiful, one very handsome but you have. Health to enjoy :) Hoe to talk soon. Take care. Hugs & kisses from Rufus & I xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Oh my goodness Ellen, that is fantastic that he has come this at. Fab. What is wrong with him? I always have my phone on me & I snap every menu I can with Rufus :)))) kisses xxxxxxx
Thank you so much for your message! We were away in Mexico City for three days and when we got back, the internet was not working ... we only got it back 3 hours ago. We have very bad thunderstorms here during the rainy season and it often destroys the internet antenna equipment. Everything is fine here. Molly is growing and making progress each day, and Lucas and she are playing together more often. At times it gets very rough and I need to separate them, but on the whole I would say that it's getting better. How are you? And how is Finley doing?
Thanks Ellen, indeed we are really proud of our little "hooligan", he is now Irish Junior Champion since the 5th of August, the first junior champion of his litter too, thanks to Dee & Jeremy for choosing the best puppy for us! The task was hard for them as they were many outstanding puppies in this litter. Now we are back to real dog life, splashing, running, playing, having a lot of fun and giving him the time to develop into whatever Jingles and Vanilla Ice have made of him. What about your miracle boy Ellen? plenty of cuddles to him from us here.
Thank you Ellen! Yes, Molly does rule the house and Lucas is suffering through it, more or less patiently. Sometimes he takes to barking loudly in protest ;-)
I hope Finlay is still doing fine? Give him a big hug from me, yes? :-)
Thank you, Ellen! I'm glad to hear that :-). You find more tours on the tag and on this link: http://www.joyontour.blogspot.ch/ I have not been very busy lately... All the best, C & J xxx
Hello Ellen, Thanks for your comments. I will certainly post some pics of our new addition as soon as possible. I went out and bought a digital camera as soon as we brought our Finnbar home so we could easily record his development. The camera may have been updated a few times since, (and hopefully my pic-taking skills :-) ) but we are so looking forward to our new bestest friend, and also a bit apprehensive as this was 12 years ago. Kind regards Pete
Ellen, 2 months without a dog was enough for us - we both felt/feel this house is not right without a wet nose always ready to greet you, always pleased to see you. Yes, we have been able to go out more and do things, but it is not the same and definitely not better. We expect to pick up our new friend at the end of this month. We did think about possibly looking to rehome a rescue setter (or other dog), as our first setter, Flynn was a rescue, but found that dealing with a pup was much easier as Mrs Price (Finnbar's Breeder) correctly said. I found uploading pictures was quite easy. I hope your Finlay's troubles are mostly behind him but if love was the key he will gain from that I sending now. xXx
Ellen, Charlie has settled in quite well, but he now thinks he is a big fish in a small pond and teeth and mouthing are common so will have a learning curve to mount very soon. He has now had his 1st injections and everybody at the vet has fallen for his charms. We can now look to socialisation classes for him (and us). Only real problem is that he is very anxious and howls when left. Trying now to leave him alone for a very short while and praise him on our return. Hopefully to extend the time little by little so he realises that we are not abandoning him and will always return
Thank you, Ellen for your nice comment on my photo. And yes, let's hope Findlay stays stable! We're thinking of you! Best wishes and kisses from Joy xxx
Have at last found a few minutes to send a message - hope you and Finlay are well. I think of you often & wonder how he is doing. Candy and Poppy are well, enjoying their walks although there has been so much rain that all our walks are very muddy and they come home every day absolutely filthy! Poppy is small enough to bath easily but Candy is more of a challenge - must find time to bath her this weekend. She has settled so well it is hard to believe that we have only had her since Easter.
Hi Ellen, Thank you for commenting on my Anniversary blog for Hammer. Finlay is a beautiful boy too. I hope he is doing okay and he defies the odds. Best wishes from Susan
