My guess is that was an easy catch and already ripe. We have a small pond behind the house which has bass in it and Rooker will spend all day if I let him, tiptoeing around the edge following the fish. Every now and then he'll make a lunge but no luck yet.

BTW, that is an interesting halter-collar?, how does that work?

Yes fish was already dead-something had taken a huge chunk out of it. Headcollar is called a 'Halti' and its very effective. It comprises of a padded noseband and the headcollar bit clips up behinds the ears.You asttatch your lead to the ring at the back of the nosebasnd and when the dog pulls it applies gentle pressure to the nose which they dont like.Its been great for Bailey he can pull like a train when going out for his 'walkies' hes fine once he gets there and on the way back.Just over excitement!
