Danka's niece Dairine was doing the same last weekend: 'Grosse Suche' or 'grand quête' with a hare chase added for good measure;-(
Must be in the family - after all, the Moanruads are there in the background!

no hare chasing here, ok, there were no hares i believe, the field was full of ground water, might not be the best place for the bunnies?
(what is the name in english for grosse suche???)

I don't think the expression exists - neither that specific type of trial. I suppose 'far ranging' is close, but not spot-on. I think at the open trials dogs areexpected to range far and cover the ground well, but all depends on how much game is present and what the running ground is like. The plains in Spain are very different to the high moors in Scotland...
