Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World
You know Jennifer - just the fact that he is a love - is all that matters and that you are willing to care and
love him - my field setters that I had in the past were wonderful - my males were calm and wanted to
please - they are smaller too which is kind of nice - I think my babies that I have now will be fairly
large - but I do have a good sized open floor plan and almost 1/2 acre that is totally fenced so we
have room if they do grow to be large setters. My Brody is quite large - abgout 70 pounds but
what a lovebug. I also have two rescue doxies - and they have settled in nicely - it took awhile I have
one that is very timid and he s fine with everyone - still the unknown from what they have encountered
I m so glad you took on a rescue - sometimes it s the human that is the problem and not the dog
- so hoping that it is a good life that you have with this dog- sometimes all it takes if for them to
know that you are not going to leave them or abandon them. My one little doxie leaves a puddle
by the door if I don t take him with me - he thinks he can go everywhere!!! This is a great site
- I just love seeing and hearing about all the dogs from all over the world - where abouts are
you from - I m originally from Canada and married and American - I am American now and
live on the Westcoast about five mins from the Canadian border.
I love this site too! I am in Powell, TN, which is really Knoxville, TN. We are in the eastern portion of the state. We also have some property where we have extended family living as well. We are going to put up a fence, because there is wildlife on our property. Red would love to chase the cattle and turkeys! lol
I am hoping to have the fence up by spring, roughly 1/3 acre to be fenced. It gets tiring walking Red for exercise and restroom breaks. I have a cruiser "beach" bike that I also walk him with. He loves to go biking!
He does seem eager to please. We are training him with a good trainer. We go about once every two weeks. He can sit, down, and stay for brief intervals. He is a loving dog. He doesn't seem to like cats. We does ok around other dogs, but seems to be nervous around larger dogs.
I am not sure what kind of dog a doxie is? I am curious about them.
