Exclusively Setters

Home for Irish Setter Lovers Around the World

All started at the end of Thursday morning, meeting place at Yvonne's house, then off in the direction of England for Windsor show; We had an easy trip and arrived at our B & B at 5.30pm, where we took possession of our rooms and then quickly off in the direction of Windsor showground. There was a BBQ waiting for us and the Mobile Home Team, we eat under a blue sky with a brilliant sun shining on our heads.   Friday the day of the show, I was quite nervous at the prospect of seeing Casey again, and when I saw him he struck me as a male version of Penny;
 The judging started, under a grey sky , with the Minor Puppy Dogs.  Casey was placed 2nd and in the Puppy Dog he was placed 3rd. (Bravo Casey, I found you so magnicficent and would have loved to have brought you home).  Then came the time for JT - Vicarys Just In Time; to go in the ring in the Post Graduate Class, where he shone (in spite of the fact that the judgements were in a tent as a fine rain had started to fall).  JT sparkles in the ring to win the coveted '1st place', but he doesn't stop there, and he continues to sparkle to win 'Best Dog' and the 'CC'and at the end BOB.  Well done Yvonne, who won her 2nd CC on English soil - the 1st was won by JT's dam, Vicarys Fancy Face 'Meisie'.
The afternoon was radient, as the sun decided to come out, and then it was Penny's turn to do her best in the Minor Puppy Bitch class. She showed beautifully without putting a foot wrong and was placed 2nd, this placing also qualifies her for Crufts.  Penny was very happy during the day as many people came to meet her and possiblly to admire her?  It did come to my ears that she didn't leave some people indifferent.  After the Group judging where the beautiful Welsh Springer owned by Mr John Thirwell won, we took to the road;  Penny and I arrived home about 1.30am.
For us the week-end wasn't finished as Saturday afternoon we were expecting the visit from Bénédicte and Jewel, aka 'Riverwood Jewel in Red' our Scott's sister, who were going with us to the International show in Genk on Sunday.  Thus Sunday morning at 6.30 on the road again, direction Genk.  Under the judgments of Mrs Cathy Delmar, Penny wins 1st Puppy and Best Irish Setter Puppy, while Jewel wins 1st in Open Bitch and the RCAC/RCACIB;    After the main ring judgments for best puppy in show, where apparently the Setters didn't catch  Mrs Reynier's eye, we were on our way to visit Rieky and Erwin.  We have at last a photo of Penny with her handsome sire 'Houston'. We also had the chance to admire Charmain's newborn pups, which are so cuddily plump;
We didn't stay too long as Frances was waiting for us with a Pizza  and a strawberry tart, unfortunately we had to wait too long for the Pizza's to arrive and weren't able to eat the tart - its put off till the 21 July???
Monday off in the direction of the Belgian Ardennes and a visit to Nadine Bonjean and Vicary's Déjà Vu & Hunk of Love, where we had a lovely meal followed by a doggy walk, the dogs really enjoyed themselves and even learnt to swim thanks to the ducks who came to tease them.
5 extremely enjoyable days passed in the best of company with our friends, making new acquaintances  and winning  some excellent show results.
