Well, our 5 weeks overseas has come & gone so quickly & we have many happy memories jogged by numerous photographs of new friends & old acquantices renewed..
Both Leigh & I had a super time & it was fantastic seeing all those Irish Setters both in England & Sweden at the circuit shows & World Show alike. We also attended some All Breeds shows like Windsor, East of England etc.
While there are subtle differences in the interpretation of the Irish Setter standard it was interesting both as a Judge & Breeder to note them varying from country to country.
Here in Australia we strive for a balance between the understated English requirements to the American over stated interpretation. I think we have managed to walk the fine line !
At the Centenary show in England we were fortunate enough to see over 500 ++ individuals at the one place. It was a superbly run show & the Committee are to be congratulated. Again, another super memory.
In Sweden, at both the World shows & circuit shows we again saw a super entry of Irish which kept us at ring side for most of the day !
That is the most obvious difference to here in Australia, we are able to peruse the other breeds in the Gundog/Sporting Group, whereas in the UK & Europe the breed entry is so large that the enthusiast is compelled to stay ringside if they want to see the breed to completion.
We took lots of photos, met some lovely people & committed lots to memory.
Our trip to the Vasa museum will stay in our memory banks for years to come !
