Training weekend in the Swiss Mountains

Normally our dog training group (search & rescue training) spends their sunday morning in 'lowland' forests. Last weekend was special as we had a two day training session in the mountains of the Berner Oberland .
In Switzerland there is a competitive form of 'search and rescue' training where the dogs are trained to search an area for 'missing' people or articles with human scent. Our setters love this form of dogtraining as they can run, use their nose, find nice people and be given treats!

Enjoy the pictures and the scenery - we could not have picked a better day:-))

Glen's brother Chiron recently joined our group...

when is the next session? we would like to join and see that landscape in real. or maybe you could adopt me and my doggies? we don't eat much, are not noisy and are quite well-behaved :-)

Wow - stunning pictures! I didn't know that type of training exists in Switzerland! We'll join you too next time!!!

How beautiful! I don't know that I'd trust my life to my Irish boy though...I could be buried under 10 feet of snow, but unless I was holding a sausage, he wouldn't bother to find me ;-)

(Glenn, my husband, just read the above post of mine and said, "He wouldn't even bother if you were holding a piece of sausage...")

Well done,Susan for training your setters to search and rescue! I don't think we have this form of training in the South of the UK where I live. You may well be needed in the French Alps,at the moment we have 8 climbers missing and the snow is very unstable and it is very difficult to organise the rescue.

Those photos are absolutely gorgeus and I can see the dogs had lots of fun. Here a lot of people do rescue with German Pointers, only a few with setters.
