For those among you, interested in pixels...

This is a tiny section of a much larger photo and here is another one (same photo) of a slobbering Joy:

I'm trying to tell her a bedtime story but she's only interested in the treat, I hold in my left hand:

The reason, there is still so much detail left in the photos is in the size of the sensor - it is 4 by 6 cm and has 50'000 pixels; it also has a much larger colour range!! About two weeks ago, we were fortunate to borrow a digital back to my husband's old Swedish middle format camera, containing such a sensor! For those, who have never seen such a camera, here it is:

The rectangle to the left with the rounded edges is the 'back' of the camera - this one is not the digital back, but an old film holder back (12 photos 6 x 6 cm). The square in the middle is the box containing the mirror and the smaller square on top is where you look through (you see the picture laterally reversed) - to the right an old Zeiss lens. Hasselblad designed a digital back, that can be combined with the old system - the camera above is about 20 years old and fully mechanical - no light meter, no AF, no nothing!! (even with the digital back btw.) - and so it took a very patient Joy, who would wait half a minute, each time I tried to focus.

To complete the photos, we used two (very old) professional flashes by Broncolor and had Joy lay down on a large piece of white linnen. Even if she does like to be presented in the best light, the spoken piece of equippent is far to expensive to be put on the Christmas wish list - sigh - but it was nice to play with it for a weekend:

Many of you have seen those last two photos before and I want to thank you all once more for your very nice comments! I do hope, you realize that the amount of detail is not repeatable with my Nikon .-)). Btw. just click on the photos to see them larger... then click once more.

Thanks for sharing. It is Hasselblad, the Rolls Roys among cameras. And it is expensive also :)) Hope to see more with this masterpiece!

Absolutely amazing!!! No doubt you had a great time with this "golden gadget" but what a difference in quality!!! even visible for someone like me ... well, with your guidance Cornelia  :-)  It may sound stupid but Joy does not only look beautiful on those picture but very healthy too... very hard to fix health on a picture. A huge cuddle to your super model beautiful Joy for me :-)
