Our darling Joy is eight years old today! This photo is by my husband, made in our studio on the new dog sofa:
Sadly, Joy did not start very well today. First, she vomited and then she had an epileptic seizure - the first since October 2011 :-(. I will call the vet later and have her therapeutic level of phenobarbital retested this week. It was always at the lowest end and is maybe too low, now that she has put on a bit of weight.
Earlier this year however, we had a wonderful two weeks in Sardinia and I will hopefully soon find the time to blog again in a more cheerful way. Cornelia with Joyful Bundle
OHH no beautiful Joy! what are you doing.. I hope it can be adjusted soon with the dose. You looks wonderful on your new sofa , wow, such an impressive day bed you have : )
hope it can be stabilized soon again for many quiet seizure-free years so come. XXXXXX
Alles Gute zum Geburtstag liebe Joy! So ein herziges Foto! Ich hoffe es geht ihr schnell wieder besser! :-(

Dear Joy, You have always been one of our special ES friends, like Romeo. We are very saddened to hear that you have not been well. We wish you a belated Very Happy Birthday and even though you did not start well on your Special Day we know that being with your Mum and Dad would have made you feel Very Happy.
I do not use tick products and fortunately my English Setters have rarely caught fleas because chemical flea products can cause some serious health problems for some dogs. When I was checking the PetzLife link for Silvia I noticed that PetzLife has developed a natural product to treat ticks i.e. TickZ. Have you tried this? Have you contacted Dr Jean Dodds re Joy's illness? It is very possible that an ingredient in the tick collar has caused her epileptic seizure. For instance, Spinosad in flea products should not be given to dogs prone to seizures.
Sweet Joyful, we hope very much that you do not have another seizure and your Mum quickly finds a solution for the tick problem where you live.
Love from Susan and Misty and our family xxxx
Thank you all for your nice B'day wishes. The daybed is not Joy's, Silvia, but is in the studio for guest dogs, who want their photo taken:-). It's on the smaller side for an Irish. I will probably write to Jean Dodds and see, what she has to say about the problem, Susan. As you know, we call ourselves fortunate to know the lady in person and she has even seen Joy some years back. She really has a heart for animals and their welfare, especially dogs. Kisses from Joy xxx
Belated but very Happy Birthday wishes, Joy! I was away for a couple of days although I see I managed to leave myself logged in! I am also very sorry to read that you are experiencing some health issues at present. I hope and pray that this can be stabilised or resolved. Continue to have a wonderful life with Cornelia. My sincerest regards and best wishes as always.
Belated Happy Birthday, Joy !!! :-)
Hi Susan, I just had a look at the product you recommended from PetzLife. I did not know that one but tried a similar product, also a herbal food supplement, called 'Billy no mates' - Joy smelled lovely but it did not keep the ticks away:-(. Sorry.
Thanks to all of you for the nice wishes and that you very much, James for you kind and caring words. C & J xxx
Happy Birthday Joy! Hope your soon feeling better and those seizures back under control. What a lovely picture of beautiful Joy!
Thank you, Sherry!
